M47TU Glow plug issue
Morning all,
2007 E60 LCI with M47 engine
I get occasional lumpy starts on cold mornings for a feel seconds , this throws up glow plug fault codes for cyl 2&4.
I figured it was just 2 glow plugs on the way out and that I could live with it.
Only recently when looking at the diagnostics report in inpa, the faults for 2&4 occur at identical mileage/time each occurrence, couldn’t be a coincidence could it?
Am I right in saying that this is pointing towards the glow plug module being faulty rather than the plugs themselves?
Would be a much easier fix!
John.

have U replaced any of them ? have U done swirl flaps?
If no , take of manifold , check each plug individually ,and if any of them faulty, replace all of them . if they all good, but u have faults that some of them faulty, U need glow plug module . Remove swirl flaps, fit blanking plates, and fits all new inlet manifold gaskets, at same time will clean its EGR valve and might need to replace vacuum hoses .do all in one go so don't need to be back few times

M47TU Glow plug issue
Hi Valdas, no i have not replaced any yet as I understand it can be a messy job especially if they are stuck. Swirl flaps were done by previous owner.
Was hoping to try to rule out the module first, I don’t want to be stuck trying to remove a sheared glow plug.
Car runs perfectly, it’s just a short hiccup on cold starts.
Have you any recommendations for removing them without breaking?
