clearing fault codes procedure
Is there a correct procedure for clearing faults in relation to the following
(1)engine running or not. Ignition key 2 clicks only
(2)once code is cleared should the ignition be switched off and then on again..
(3)do you have to drive car after code has been cleared
(4)does it depend on equipment used
(5)doesn't really matter no procedure
RE: clearing fault codes procedure
What are you using to clear the codes?

I got a lend of a laptop with inpa and carsoft so doing a few tests on both. I was just wondering is there a sequence to clear codes correctly. I ran a few tests ect and got a lot of failure modes when I tried to drive the car (felt like the car was on 2 cylinders) but all is ok now.would this have to do with the way I cleared faults/adaptations

It should tell you what way to set it up. Generally the fault reading/clearing process is done with just the ignition on - engine light, airbag light etc illuminated

Ignition to position 2, select your make an model, follow the on screen instructions for reading and clearing error codes. Once you clear them start the engine and scan again just to make sure they stay out.
