E36 M3 S50B32 vanos seal ,bolt ,gasket replacement

Some pictures and short story about BMW E36 M3 S50B32 Vanos refurbish ,included new bolts,seals and gaskets .Its two main things for this work ,to fix oil leak on Vanos unit and refresh all seals and gaskets for better Vanos performance .Old and leaking seals loose oil pressure in Vanos system and cuts out engine power and performance .Less torque ,bad throttle response and very often pure idling .So here U go for some pictures of this work and how it works when stripped in bits ,enjoy and thanks for Your attention :wink:

Here we have Vanos solenoids ,in first picture U can see how looks old flat O ring ,and thats how oil start leak as O ring dont do its job .Next picture without O ring and after with new O ring fitted .Last ones Vanos shaft covers with new O rings

New Vanos solenoid cover gaskets ,all new bolts ,new oil filter and new oil constant pressure valve which was leaking as well and is located at the back of engine bottom end ,under exhaust manifold .New camshaft gear bolts and 3 main O ring gaskets between cylinder head and Vanos unit ,not in picture .

few last of them ,all cleaned and ready for install with new rocker cover gasket set and the one how it looks fitted back on the head

And to think the amount of poor souls that have been robbed into buying complete new or refurbished VANOS units when all they need was a set of seals.

its true :wink: other 2 most common problems on them are - rattle and very pure idling. vanos gears get worn and start make that rattling sound or second - very bad idling ,engine sounds like heavy modded Mustang engine,this is solenoid problem but even this is repairable or separate replaceable .
