E36 starting problem advice please
One last job I need to do is diagnose the starting issue on the e36
I have fitted a new battery
Changed the alternator
Ews is ok
Sometime car won't start some times it will , it's driving me mad because I don't know what it is
My auto electrician said he thinks it's the relay before the starter because the starter was only reading 5volts Instead of 12 .
Is there a relay causing this or what are the possibile causes
If i push the car it's starts no problem
Also I have noticed there is a delay more than usual when the key is turned and it does start
Any advice to iron out this problem grackle appreciated
RE: E36 starting problem advice please
Is the battery/tray earthed to the car correctly?
Had a similar issue where this was the problem, car would drive fine and start after a drive but was lazy to start after a period of time of non use had passed. The alternator was not charging the battery correctly while driving.
Hope you get sorted.
RE: E36 starting problem advice please
Hmmm it sounds like the starter alright, especially if you can start by push. Had the same issue on my old E36 and a new starter fixed it. Bit of a mare to do on the 6 pots though!

is that bought separate ? or does the wires need to be cut and soldered back wonder would that cause the delay when key is turned?
so frustrating its the only thing letting the car down after changing alternator battery and starter
RE: E36 starting problem advice please

RE: E36 starting problem advice please
