Anyone running an X5? (E53)
Just a quick one, what are you getting (MPG wise) around town?
Mine hit a new low of 14.9MPG today which seems a bit... ehhh low.... :D
Its worth mentioning that mine is having some minor/ major fuel injection issues and is running like pig but im now wondering what should I expect when I get it sorted?
I would have though mid-high 20's?
RE: Anyone running an X5? (E53)
A friend of mine has an 06 auto, so the 218bhp model. He averages 32mpg long term

i had pre facelift 2001 , engine sound very good , had some remap ,but i have no idea who done and how , later i had hybrid turbo fitted but no adjustemnt after . with my heavy foot i had about 20mpg ,but it was flying
later my friend bought it and hes slower driver , he had about 24 mpg
now my wife drives 2004 one , full stock , about 24 mpg ,and shes not slow driver :hehe!:
RE: Anyone running an X5? (E53)
Yeah I'm a bit off the mark so. Mine is obviously over fueling like bitch.
RE: Anyone running an X5? (E53)
and its run around numbers ,its completely different on the long runs
[hr]
even one faulty injector makes huge difference !!
RE: Anyone running an X5? (E53)
Ive narrowed it down to cylinder 4, getting some odd readings there. I put an injector in but it was second hand so it may well be shagged...
Il swap over the injector to another cylinder tomorrow and see if the problem follow's.If not il do a compression test.

That's too low, our x5 has averaged 26 mpg over 50k kms which is mixed driving. We never get lower than 22/23 mpg around town and prob never really higher than 30mpg fast motorway driving
RE: Anyone running an X5? (E53)
We've got 8.9L/100km over the last 50k km - mixture of town & motorway...
RE: Anyone running an X5? (E53)
Is that all these get ? I'll assume the diesel versions yea, Christ I would have expected 40-50 no on a run ?

Nope, tbh the 3.0 petrol does roughly the same mpg, it's just the extra cost of petrol!
