There was a BBC newswatch on that last year wasnt there? I think BMW have released a software update to stop this happening. Its free of charge for UK customers but we have to pay in Ireland as they didn't reckon there was a threat.
RE: This Worries Me Alot!!
There's a software update from BMW that fixes this issue, although it only affects certain cars so I was told by Bolands.
You could have the OBD port moved somewhere else (locked glovebox) if you're concerned about it. I have my own solution in place - which I'm not going to detail on a public forum - which allows me to sleep soundly at night. In saying that, if someone really wants to take your car, they will. It's not worth being stabbed, shot or maimed for something that is ultimately replaceable.

Yea i can see why you would not want to go into detail, locked in a glovebox maybe not but moved somewhere could be a good idea and get a lock for it..
My car is parked on the street, it may be under a camera and outside a gunshop but i have already taken more security measures..

2 e90s taken from my area recently using this method. Between this & timing chains its not growing my love for bmw (luckily neither have happened to me yet)

A Lithuanian customer had one of these actually.
You start the engine, but if you did not press the button before starting, engine shuts down within 15 sec
