What do you do to rid of or at best hide the damage caused by it?
Best bet to try and get it off asap. Found the best bet is to lay some kitchen paper on it and pour some hot water on it to soak, leave for 10 mins to soften then gently wipe off
Depends on the damage inflicted, if very bad will need wet sand and a machine polish if it only small try hand polish
Kitchen paper would be quite rough too. Better would be a microfibre cloth.
As said, it can damage the clear coat. To permanently remove it, it will require polishing, probably by machine. It might be possible to hide it with a filler hand polish or glaze...but that will need doing every few months!

I would never touch bird crap with the softest cloth in the world as they can have seeds in them etc best of touchless ;)
