Frank Keane Blackrock had an M135i could still be there still although they had a vip sales event last week. Absolute rocket. I'd say the 3 would feel as if it is better built. Wasn't too impressed with the materials used in the 1 just seemed cheap even in comparison to my e92 335i. Anyway give fk Blackrock a shout to see if they still have the 1er.

Thanks man, the M135i with Pro Nav, Adaptive Damping and zf box seems like a ridiculous bargain, with the same options the f30 is near 10k more. I'm looking at 2 year old ish cars.
Surprised to hear you say that about the finish of the 1.
It's more in relation to the likes of the dash. It seems a bit hard-plastic. It just let it down a bit in my opinion but I guess that's how they justify pricing and so on of other models. There were comments on other threads about the build quality of newer BMWs compared to older models.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's to be expected d that the 1 is different to the 3 same as the 3 is different to the 5 etc etc.
I was very impressed with the M135i in fairness. I've never driven the f30 335 so I can't compare to that - just to my own e92.
