While on the subject of petrol, I heard that the quality seems to be sh1t. Noticed that the M seems to pink more when using Applegreen. Thought Texaco was a bit better but under some load conditions it pinks. Esso appears to be the best. Not an exhaustive test but thats my impression so far. Next visit to a station I'll try Esso again.
:-(
I'm glad you said that about Applegreen, ages ago on the way to Naas I put some Applegreen in and the car ran rough. A few weeks ago in Meath on the way back to dublin I used it again because the car was running on fumes, the next few days it was struggling to start and running idling terribly. That's enough for me to never use their stuff again.
My car always runs best on maxol petrol so it might be worth giving them a go
RE: Fuel prices coming down
Were both times you filled up with Applegreen when the car was running on fumes? Is it possible that the dirt in the tank became unsettled when re-filling at such a low point?
RE: Fuel prices coming down
It very unlikely, I always allow the needle to hit the same point before I top up and it doesn't happen with other petrols plus on both occasions the symptoms were improved by mixing other brands of petrol in the tank.
RE: Fuel prices coming down
Been using Applegreen the past 3 weeks as there is a new garage in Swords, and they have the prices reduced to get people in the door - no problems to report!

Garage is brand new Dave give it a while, I don't like using Applegreen either, same for some other garages but car never feels great on their fuel.
Re: Fuel prices coming down
Is applegreen shell rebranded for the Irish market?
