Such a nice car this. It looks so clean, and I love facelift e46 coupes in that colour.
GLWS :)
Decided to re open this thread and put it on donedeal/carzone/adverts - am I mad to use those sites to advertise? Should I pickup another SIM today to ease the pain of gobshite timewasters or whats my best approach? Been a while since I've bought/sold (4.5 years actually!)
I sold a family members Civic via Donedeal a few months ago.
Had it keenly priced (lowest priced one on at the time) and within
30 seconds of the ad going live I got texts and calls asking for
"my best price", wasn't a nice experience.
Saying that, the chap who eventually bought it was a gent.
I would try push it on here for a bit first and see what reaction you
get?
Price it up to deter timewasters, or indeed get a new sim.
I'm just after selling a sub 1k car on donedeal & I hope i never have to do it again.
My advice is:
- If it's convenient get a second sim
- Advertise it as: no offers if your not willing to pay x don't bother calling. That will stop most of the last price brigade however advertise it at 10% more than you will sell for to allow for haggling in person.
- Refuse point blank to talk money over the phone if they're serious they'll be more interested in the car than the price
It is hard to know Ciaran tbh, I put mine up a week ago on Haus DoneDeal and Driver. I had 4 enquiries on it. Of the 4 one of them was a phonecall asking if i would take a trade. One was genuine but sounded like he was busy weekend to view and the other two were genuinely keen and visited the car. Only the second fella lost out because the first guy bought it last night.
I priced the car what i think to be very fair. Neither Overpriced nor underpriced. Realistically i could have got more for condition i suppose. But when i made my mind up to sell i wanted to price it as fair and not sit with it playing on my mind to shift. Because i would probably change my mind again.
Id say make your mind up what you think she is worth and what you would be prepared to let it go for and the rest should fall into place. I dont mind donedeal. I think depending on how the ad is written it weirdly deters some chancers as they know its outside their usual 'what will ya take' league.
If im making any sense. ..
Good luck with Donedeal.
You will need a lot of time and patience on your hands.
The genuine interested guys will come to view the car, that is good indicator.
Getting a new SIM is not a bad idea.
GLWS, it is a very nice motor.
Maurice.
I sold on DD last year, the brothers Golf, it was priced a bit higher then the rest to get rid of timewasters and I tried to put a good ad together. Got a couple of calls, no time wasters or low ballers and sold to first viewer no hassle.
I think a good ad will deter them as they will see you know about the car itself and cars in general so will not be low balled.
At least you know you will be hitting a big audience, not all DD people are time wasters, sure most of us spend a good bit of time on there. Same with Adverts.
Plus 1 has to be done donedeals audience is huge 1000 times the size of any forum i wouldnt really bother with carzone or adverts if it will sell anywere its going to be donedeal
