A well minded 320d Msport ticks all your boxes to be fair. One with reasonable miles, swirl flaps blanked & no rust. Should have change from 5k too.

What about a 93 vector sport ? Fall well into budget nice bit of polk drive great look good and come nicely spec'd i drove one earlier and i must say was very impressed
320i is a 2.0 litre, and at 129k miles it'll likely need the chain done if not done already.
What was the price on the 318d dan ?
S40's drive oil, I believe...my brother in law's got through a fair sup!
I was in the same boat a few months ago and concluded that buying any diesel in this price range is a bit of a lottery - turbos, DMFs, DPFs etc are all likely to cost you money unless you know the work's already been done.
Better to buy a lower mileage, lower stressed petrol and spend a few euro more every week on fuel, than using your 'savings' to have pay a much bigger bill when something goes wrong on a high mileage diesel! My view anway.
Whilst i agree with you on some points , most cars have dmf's petrol or diesel, dpfs were only on later cars not <5k diesels and turbos are long lasting on the older stuff plus a recondition is not to exspensive as his other half will be travelling the country it makes senseQuote:

Fair enough on the DPF, but I would still prefer to buy a lower mileage petrol where the expense of potential clutch/flywheel replacements is further away.
Anyway Gar, it's the only way I can justify (to myself!) doing 400 miles a week in a 2.5L petrol
No need to justify i do similarish most weeks in my own who am i to question it [emoji1] [emoji1]
