I was stopped in the work van on the naas rd outbound opp. Frank Keanes about two weeks ago by the Guards who informed me that customs were checking tanks and to pull over on the edge of the road. They were only stopping commercial vehicles, jeeps, vans trucks.
They have also visited a building site I frequent on at least two different occasions recently.
Social welfare were also checking pps no.s on that occasion on the naas rd.
No harm if you ask me.
Used to be able to openly pump in my local place too. It is pre paid but now they only turn the pump on if you fill up a container. The guy told me that the Garda were clamping down on it.
I know it's nothing to do with the gardai, so most likely a revenue letter that went to most garages to keep an eye on it. The garage is quite close to a few travelling sites so I'd imagine it was their busiest pump based on the ques I've seen at it when I was in using the cough cough normal pump cough cough :)
If i had a diesel car that's what i would have in the car all the time. Cost of insurance and tax is fucking stupid already so wouldn't mind saving some money on the diesel.
I know plenty using it, as far as I know the diesel all comes in to ireland together and is split into agri/road with the die put in agri, but only what iv heard dont know how true it is. But I know plenty runing cars on it with no problems, but mayb down the road it will cause problems.

It's a lot safer than using the washed shite that's been peddled around the country in so called legit pumps !!!!
Wouldn't put the washed stuff in my car if it was free. Green is no problem, sometime if get the chance of 100 litres of it and I split it with a family member so it's gone within a week.
But I have heard of increased checks, one guy on boards got done this week, €2k on the spot fine!
I do see them dipping all of the time to be honest. Dublin Southside. Even seen some guy randomly pulled over by a customs guy in a jeep. Didnt think they could do that. But out he got and put his customs hat on an after a chat with the driver he grabbed his plastic bottles and dipped the tank. Didnt see the outcome as had to head back to work after lunch
One of the owners of a proper petrol station called EMO in Limerick got jailed for selling washed diesel through the pumps. Its called great gas now but never filling up there ever again there.
Interesting post on this Maxol station in Limerick is well http://www.bmw-driver.net/forum/archive/index.php/t-39957.html
Looks like the safest bet at this stage is Tesco station
