Thats crazy about the car being too old im also with fbd my renewal is due soon i think im going with britton this year though [emoji3]
Has anyone insured a 318is at 21/22 for a reasonable amount? (Full licence, 1 year named no claims and 2 years no claims on my own policy come renewal time)
Hoping to put mine on the road come renewal in December!
Tried them there...€300 higher than my renewalQuote:

Gonna have to bite the bullet I reckon and go with my current insurers
I think they are all up tbh, unless its drastic increase you might be better off. Maybe tell them the mileage you do and see will that help?
Next year you can get classic, would be perfect for the mileage you do.
I found getting a quote for the e46 m3 more difficult and more expensive than the e92 m3.Quote:

In the end I went with Axa
I got refused a quote by most of them because my 98 was way too old, Axa quoted no problem and the same went for my 92 golf. If it wasn't for Axa my e36 at one point would have been too old for a regular policy and too new for classic.
So to most of these insurance companies if you can't afford a relatively "new" car your not entitled to insurance which is poxy

This thread prompted me to have a look at Britton & I got an online quote of €470 fully comp, protected ncd, windscreen cover, etc. for an E46 330ci. I'm 41 with 10+ years ncd.
Best quote I had before checking was €675.
Great stuff :)
Brittons are great. I was insured with them when I was 23 on my first BM (A long time ago) I dropped them in the end as AXA were most competitive. Service from their agents was always nice and friendly. I'd say the policies are crap though tbh.Quote:

Personally myself I would only ever take a policy from AXA or FBD.Quote:

I don't have to defend my opinion it is what it is. Ever wonder why anyone has extra levies on their insurance in the last few years? You can do your own research on the Britons policies and sure if it meets your needs perfect. I wouldn't buy such basic entry level policies anymore. I only used them at the time because of cost. Cost isn't everything.
I renewed a few weeks ago ,was with FBD for 5 years full licence no claims etc and last year it was 560e this year they wanted 1100! ,i rang them and just said i wasnt renewing they said no problem and didnt even try to drop the price, after a bit of looking around i got it for 470e with the AA
Must try the AA quotedevil has been the best so far insured with fbd through nononsense price has doubled bloody ridiculous another year of safe driving and they drive my insurance up companies blaming the collapse of satanta for the hike in insurance
Cheers fogey you just saved me a 100 euro got a great quote from aig will be going with them [emoji41]Quote:

Quotedevil rang me back quote was a little higher then aig and the policy would be with aig so worth trying them directly fogey
I was chatting to him about fbd and he siad they are swamped with people ringing who have had renewals from fbd with a 50% hike in price what are fbd playing at driving customers away like that are they about to go bust or something ?
Seems they're hitting the older cars for more insurance I'd one company not quote me as they don't insure a car older than 00 great they can pick and choose what they insure chill insurance was a,decent quote too 550 last year fbd wanted over a grand they can whistle
I'm sure there was something in the news about fbd intending on leaving the car insurance business a few months ago, they are losing a fortune on itQuote:

Just done yesterday myself. .got my usual in from 123 and it came in at 730 all in with a step back after that dope wrote off my IS last year or that..stepped back from 8 to 7 years so didn't make much odds..rang around and as soon as the question re any claims or accidents in the last 3 years came that was it..sorry cant insure you scum bag fuck off..so I spose I may stay. .27 320d
Lot of places i tried wouldn't even quote cars 10 years old cant understand the logic behind it and no reason given
Renewed mine last month with Liberty..790 fully comp with everything included on the M..think i have 8 yrs no claims now...

New policy here with Allianz - ain't been a customer of theirs in years, but they offered the best policy to price ratio. Fully comp, protected NCB, windscreen, breakdown etc €490 rounded up - that's actually cheaper than the outgoing E46 320Cd for a comparable policy with FBD.
According to no nonsense the market value of the touring is over 2.5k. Got a great deal when I bought it if that's the case [emoji1]
Britton insurance will be getting my services for the year ahead cheapest quotes for both fully comp and tpft
200 cheaper than quotedevil and chill insurance
How old are you and what neck of the woods are you in? Best I could do (with haggling) was €980 for fully comp on mine with full NCB protection, windscreen and breakdown assistance; That's with KennCo too. First time under the tonne in the ///M - Axa wanted €1360 and many, many others refused to quote for any number of reasons - 28 is too young, it's a soft-top convertible, over 3.0L etc etcQuote:

Yes they have to be informed. Even if you have to make a claim which is later shown to be someone else's fault and paid for by the other persons insurance.
Yea you still get hit. It's a bit of a scam really. when you phone for a quote aswell as asking how many years ncb they also ask you if you've have any claims in the last 5 years so your still going to pay a premium. The only way is to stay with the original company and they know your stuck with them.Quote:

My advice is play around with the comp, 3rd party if getting a quote online. It was cheaper for me to go fully comp than 3rd party knocked another 100 by increasing my excess by 1k.
I firmly believe in getting it as cheap as possible as your only getting a disc, if it comes to a claim they're all going to fight you on it.
Edit: this was with a broker (Brittons)
I feel shafted, they wouldn't quote me :crying: I'll give them a try again next year so thanks for the details.Quote:
