I'm sorry, but why would you even bother to go to a dealers to for a windscreen wash top up?

Was thinking the exact same thing.:)
I thought this was an enthusiast site, yet we have people going to a dealers for screenwash top-ups.....
FFS - Aldi do 5 litres of ready to use (a rip-off in itself) screenwash for like €2.99 and it's great ! Cherry smell too for those that care....:p
Wow take it easy lads :D
It’s a top up of all fluids, and you don’t have to go specifically for it. I brought the e39 for a valet at Joe Duffy after the Scotland trip (you’re entitled to 1 a month) knowing it could use an oil top up, and picked it up later spotless with a 0.5 Litre oil top up and windscreen wash topped up too :p (not that it was the reason I went).
Edit: here are some photos (any excuse :D)

Well that makes more sense, I guess! Peter, your car is just perfect. Such a timeless shape
Yea, BMW First really works for me. I've made use of the bulb and wiper replacements already, saved on service costs, it saves me oil top up and wash/valet costs, and the fuel discount is a bonus too. The fleet is the icing on the cake :)
Cheers, Shane! Mr Nagashima did an amazing job :p he designed the e36 and the e39, 2 of my favourite looking BMWs!
Slight tangent... I never think of the e39 as an old car in my mind, but watching videos like this really makes you realise it's a product of a different time! What an excellent car for still being perfectly useable as a daily driver in 2019!
I'd say the lads in there actually enjoyed working on the Peter.
I think the E39 is ageing incredibly well. Definitely a high point looks and engineering wise for BMW.
I can attest that the BMW screen-wash is excellent stuff....would be inconvenient for me to book in with a dealer, but when I drop mine off for its wipers etc...I will be sure to drain the screen wash first to get my free refill.
For anyone who was interested in renting the BMW First Fleet Experience cars. I rang them today to see what dates were available and it looks like the program is coming to an end so no more booking being taken going forward. The current cars are scheduled to go back and be sold on through the dealer network. The M2 is booked out until the end of May at which time it will return to BMW and the 440i and X3 M40i seem to be going back sooner. Apparently the uptake wasn't what BMW Ireland had anticipated so they reckon BMW probably won't continue with replacing the current cars with other models. I guess there wasn't enough serious interest to make it financially worth their while offering these cars here.
A bit gutted now that I didn't book one long before now but there you go. In fairness the guy I was talking to on the phone was sound and very apologetic. They gave me 3 months free subscription for my troubles anyway.
They probably couldn't afford to keep replacing the tyres on the M2 :D I think I will still subscribe though - my xenons are 13 years old at this stage!
That’s a real shame and a bit unbelievable that people didn’t think to rent them at such a low price! Tyres on the M2 could be a genuine reason though!
I’m thinking of signing up for BMW First as the X5 needs wipers and getting them free is more attractive than €100 or so. I see there’s a referral programme that gives an extra months free to both people. So does anyone want to refer me?
Picked up a full set of wipers today for the X5 for the princely sum of zero euro complements of BMW First.
I signed up for the cheapest package and got an extra month free due to DonB’s referral.
Tbh I don’t see the point of BMW First, it’s not like it’s going to convince me to spend more on BMWs or to make think that the paid services (like €300 for a set of brake pads) is good value. But let’s not look a gift horse in the mouth!
Tbh I found that when you took the 20% discount and the level of discount by a friendly dealer (in my experience) you only ended up paying a bit more than getting it done at a specialist/spurous garage.
At least for servicing....
I think I paid around 620 for a major service on the X5 vs 480-500 from another place... For the sake of warranty i stuck with the main dealer..
But yeah I got the free wiper blades too :-)
The discount applies to parts and other stuff too...

However the burden of proof will be with the owner to prove that OEM parts were used and servicing was carried out as per the manufacturer's guidelines if there is warranty work required or goodwill needed beyond the warranty period. The discount that BMW First has certainly reduced the price difference between main dealer and independent for a lot of servicing costs in my experience.
Signed up to this just now. Clicked on the Bmw service site and just out of interest put in my old reg. Check out the price difference between an oil service and an oil service with micro filter replacement! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2ea282ef83.jpg

I heard there is some disgraceful abuse of the system happening [emoji1] not naming any names of course
Anyone want to do a referral for me? Joining up today.
Should do the trick:

Sorry, my friend text me and I added his account. Thanks for replying though.
Went to buy a few bits in Colm Quinns recently happy out to be using my First discount. Was told the 20% parts discount only applies if you are getting work done as well. Anyone else have this?
Well that sucks! I presumed it was across the board

I was under the impression it was for any parts and wasn’t only applicable when BMW were carrying out the work.
What if you are ordering small trim parts etc that don’t need BMW to fit?
Sounds wrong to me.

From BMW First FAQ:
How do I avail of the 20% discount?
With this service you will get a 20% discount on the recommended retail price of parts, service, repair & accessories, excluding tires, lifestyle products and over the counter business. You are required to inform the BMW or MINI authorised retailer/repairer of your intention to avail of the 20% discount when making the relevant booking.
I thought the same re trim parts etc but as I was told in the small, small print its excluded, see the last line below:
If the feature “20% Discount on the Recommended Retail Price of
Parts, Service, Repair & Accessories” is part of your package, your
package allows a twenty per cent discount on the Recommended
Retail Price of any original BMW or MINI spare part, including labour, excluding tyres and lifestyle products. Over the Counter
Business is excluded
Yep, even when you go to get a new set of wipers under BMW First, you have to wait for the dealer to fit them. You cannot just stroll into the parts department and collect them over the counter free of charge to fit them yourself.
