It's a fine car with a lot of work gone into it but I'd agree not to my taste either.Quote:

No doubt it's built well, I'm all for modifying some cars and love an epic build but I just think it's a bit wrong taking a car as iconic as an m3 and taking it so far away from its original state.
He actually rescued the car if anything. He bought it as an absolute wreck; the roof was rotten, it was riddled with rust and the interior was torn to pieces. It's not really that far away from its original state either, S54 & Air ride is all really, both are reversible. It's not like he turned it into an E30 M3 pickup :DQuote:

Not for me anyways, why do stanceworks have to throw in a little bit of a life story about the owners...a few pics and bit of spec is all thats needed

If it was a 60s Chevy impala drop-top it would look the dog's danglies but for me that would have to be a usable height just to cruise in!

Can you justify this opinion? Would you rather he wreck it on coils or have a car that can do both? Have you driven a car on bags quickly for comparison like?Quote:

Its a car. Its meant to be driven.
Put coils on a car and you can take it on a track, potter around town, cruise down the motorway, whatever you want.
Put airbags on it and park in a carpark or on the street and stand back and look at it?? cos it can't be driven because its sitting on its belly.
Pointless.
I think your missing what I'm saying. I'm not having a dig like but do you honestly think that someone with an m3 is going to buy some cheap bag set up? It's not 1970. This guy probably has accuair or airlift performance and these are comparable to having coils in a car. They can be adjusted across many different parameters and will eat track all day long. They do have more than just 1 height. This guy is just hard parked here. If he drove around like this eventually chassi rails wear away stuff always falls off and breaks. Bags is the best choice for this guy.

Well aware its not 1970 and I didn't mention anything about cheap airbags. Did you watch the video in the link posted with the pic? The car looks cool at drivable height, when its parked and dropped it looks like something out of fast and the furious.
An M3, in my eyes, is a performance car, not an air bagged show car.
The whole idea of air ride suspension is set to change, manufacturers such as Airlift performance create there systems with performance very much at the key of priorities and not for show reasons e.g if your an enthusiast that would like to use all the benefits of the improved dynamics that a lower ride height would bring but on the way to and from the track be able to comply with local laws regarding a cars ride height and tackle speed bumps etc. Being able to drop it on the ground is a bi product of having this adjustability.
The majority of the stanceworks members fall in to a category of owner that like to show and track their cars so it's sort of inevitable that suspensions manufacturers take this on board and create something suitable.
I think what Rich wished to point out was the fact that compared to 10 years ago and to the typical Gangsta Impala "Snoop Dog style" Air Systems have made enormous progress
Today I would not install an Air system conceived in 2000 even on my 98 E36 1,8 estate as, just like you Hobbs, I would think that on the first corner taken with a little speed the car could be in trouble and not hold the road hence the choice to go for Coilovers besides the cost of 10 times as much in terms of cost for bags.
Today however you can have the comfort of Air with the performance of Coilovers.
Going down as much as you wish on a flick of a switch for shows and up as much as you want to avoid speed bumps or have some spirited driving. Basically more or less 5,5 inches of clearance to play with. I would go for it if it was not for the high costs involved...
A little video that explains if you can have it all...
