RE: E92 335i / Late E46 M3 possibly..
Main dealers can be very annoying, especially when they're reneging on an agreed deal. Did you get it in writing what they agreed they would do?
The tax on the car alone is worth €1k. New year tyres are the most important, fronts won't come into play unless you're at 100% on the road (which is not really a responsible thing for anyone to do on the road). Discs are 400 should you have to change them.
I still think its a lovely car as long as the bodywork is ok. Youd have to see what the finished product they're offering and decide then.
I wouldn't get disheartened though. They're great cars and if you had a contingency budget of 2-3k you'd have carefree motoring without the warranty. Take a look at that other silver grey for 4k less. It'd definitely be worthwhile given how much headroom itd leave you in your budget.

Can I ring them letting on to be you ? I'll tell them to ram the M3 up their hole

Keep going back to look at it once in a while, nice car but think the SMG will p*** me off tbh. it's probably worth viewing though. Considering its the same mileage and half the price of the other one!
Sorry to hear it didn't work out peter, SMG really is not hard to live with IMO. Admittedly from cold starts it takes a bit of getting used to and tends to be very sensitive but on ots lowest setting through town etc it's fine, it really comes into it's own on the open road it's fantastic personally I was always a fan of manual this been my second m3 with SMG I don't think I'd ever want a manual again so don't discount it entirely because of SMG. My two cents regarding the intending purchase either what was agreed is carried out or walk away.

Just think about that euro trip with roof down and the downshifts when you blip the paddles
Its a stunning car and at half the price a bargain in my eyes
Its mind boggling to buy one twice the price for a 2 year warranty
You will take a much bigger depreciation hit then what you will save on the warranty cause once its up you will have a +100k car valued at 10-12k

A Massive +1
All the same, it doesn't seem like they are treating you well considering the premium. I personally would pull the plug right now. Think with your head and not your heart :)
RE: E92 335i / Late E46 M3 possibly..
Personally, I think the car is too expensive considering the miles.
If you pull the plug will you lose your deposit?

My thoughts exactly.
Walk away.
E92 335i / Late E46 M3 possibly..
I'd be thinking its way 2 expensive but really Id have never spent 16 grand on it cos it's going to be worth a lot less when u try sell it with over the 100k and not from a dealers!! For 8 grand spare u could supercharge it have a few 100 more horse power if wanted and still have a few 1000 to upkeep it!!! But if you liked that one enough and we're happy to spend the money on it Id wait till its ready for collection and then look at it again and see if it's nice enough and up to standard u want it to be to spend the money and decide because u will always regret not going to look at the finished car and seeing exactly what it looks like
RE: E92 335i / Late E46 M3 possibly..
Called and said I wasn't taking the car, will get the deposit back on Monday.

The best thing to do, you wouldn't have been happy with it from the way your describing it . As the others are saying pick up a good one privately drop it to one of the forum mechanics for a week to get anything it needs, then keep the change aside for future expenses.
That way you'll have a car that you can jump into and drive knowing it's sorted if anything comes up you've the money there to pay for it.
If it's not mint I'd guess at the value of that m3 to be 10 k privately, 6k can buy a lot of parts and labour.
So the search continues !
