Made the same mistake with the M when i had it, had to get the oil sucked out, lucky the guy down the road had an extractor, serious pain otherwise!
Could be wrong but i think the main item you risk damaging are your cats.

I'm curious to know how much oil the car is using?
Have you no temp gauge either peter
I knew an eagle eyed member would :DQuote:

Didn't realise the 335i had a dip stick!
That e dipstick is a nightmare, mine was on 3/4 then 1/2, 1/4 and now it's up to 3/4. I've been checking it OCD Lately. I suspect a small oil leak but it's very unnerving that it's jumping values.

On my M6 it says that you don't top it up until it asks you to, even then you should only add in 0.5L amounts. It doesn't recognise smaller top ups & it could lead t overfilling.
Glad to hear you are sorted, save for an empty fuel tank and what looks like a good roasting the car got for the dash photo (oil temps) :D
Why do we not get water temp? Do we just have to await something like in Gar's pic or is there a dash light popup if there is trouble? Seems a bit stupid.
It's a joke, simple as. I think there is a warning light but still pretty shoddy from BMW. For example, if you bleed the cooling system, how the hell do you monitor coolant temps afterwards? Or can you do something similar to the E46 and unlock some hidden obc functions?Quote:
