The board is fishing for the keys signal, from within the house.
If the car had comforts acces then they just need to press the sensor on the handle to open the door.
If it just has the standard keyless go (like most F10's) then they need to break window first to physically get in.
Stores your keys in a lead lined box or in one of those boxes that the contactless cards can't be accessed through either!
Or go with Kens option, the microwave :)

Don't go giving credit for my idea to Len - whoever he is! :D
A faraday cage should disrupt the signal from the key - which is essentially what the microwave is. Not entirely sure how effective it is - some physical security like a security post as well won't hurt.

Its the standard practice with sailing to keep the satphone in the microwave/oven in a storm due to lightning strikes :D Same principle in a way. I'd be more inclined to code out comfort access, have a loud dog and keep on the smart end of a shotgun ;)
-
The thing about coding out comfort access, you can only do it with cars that have it. Every F10 has keyless go, as there's no ignition, so you cannot get rid of that. The comfort access is a different option that's on very few F10's.

So is there still a need to move the obd port with the f10 like there is with the e60. They really should have limited the range of the keyless start to 1m or something.
-
With the Keyless go in the F10 (and most modern yokes like the Ford Focus)Mitch is getting Gen easier to steal the cars now.
Yes the F10 is likely to be vulnerable to an OBF hack as with any BMW post 2007, but keyless go just makes it even less Tech to steal it. A simple signal repeater solution amplifying the communications between the car outside and the key in side the house mess the car can be started without even needing to clone a key. Cars with keyless go plus the comfort acces feature (rare option in Ireland as we are all tight asses when it comes to spacing cars!) makes that job even easier.
Scary stuff.

Keep your key fob in the microwave overnight so that the radio signal can be blocked.
-
Would it not make more sense for bmw to just go back to the security system used in the e46/e39 this new electronic wizardry is obviously useless more of a gimmick then anything else and you may as well be leaving your keys in the ignition in terms of security

Lexus post 2006 I think all have keyless access. I never heard of them being robbed. Is it because they are allowed to encrypt their keys or just not sought after car?
