This, imo, is just making noise. In the long term it can't be controlled. It's got the attention it deserves but we are speaking about an organisation that is corrupt to the core ie the gov pushing to reduce tax fraud. I don't beleive they have the resources, the will or the information to put a halt to this in general. Time will tell i'm sure
RE: Garda crack down on bmws 2.0l on book
the rally of the lakes will be very very interesting , from welded diffs to engine swaps
RE: Garda crack down on bmws 2.0l on book
They are saying there to contact the Garda if your an owner of a vehicle that is involved, would this just trap you or would they give you some sort of time to change the particulars etc

Hey presto! That's the m3 from Hartfords in balbriggan.
Re: RE: Garda crack down on bmws 2.0l on book
I'd imagine it's cars that have their logbook changed to a lower cc that they are going for as opposed to conversions that have increased the cc
If they have looked back at all the change of vehicle particulars forms that reduced the cc of the vehicle its easy enough to generate a list of cars that can be out on pulse to be pulled over next time they pass an ANPR car.

Only the obvious misdeclared cars will be a target. Like for like engine swaps resulting in more displacement will never be found. Ie: M54b22 to M54b30
RE: Garda crack down on bmws 2.0l on book
That m3 is going to be famous. Making a cameo on the 6 o'clock news!:tounge:

If you think they will pass up an opportunity to get more money from the public you can think again its the one thing they excel at
This is over an has now become high risk little gain , look at the nct thing at xmas people could not get in fast enough
The way i see it unfolding is at least 50% of people will panic now and get the book changed to the correct cc the other 50% will slowly be picked off over the next 24 months, garages will be super paranoid about signing off on forms in case it comes back to bite them in the ass

Another big brother attitude to screw people, I don't personally think it's a big deal to have 2.0 tax if your properly insured as a 3.0?
€710 isn't cheap to begin with anyway? Never mind the double if it's a 3.0 to €1400!!!!:surprised:
Why also do people have the hater attitude of "if I can't do it, why can you?"
THE LAW AND THE GOVERNMENT IS AN ASS.

Still doesn't change the fact that it's fraud and if you get caught it's the price you pay for taking the risk. I have no problem with people doing it, but don't really have too much sympathy if they get caught.
