I know of a half decent one with missing history, needs about 5k spent on it asking sub 10k (manual too) Subframe + bearings + vanos clearance + service is around 4k too so 10k would get you a lot of stuff, so if you buy the right one you can drive it, or spend a few quid and have it rock solid. In the UK e46 m3 are going around 15k sterling for even an average one, so no value there.
On the e92 I have heard VRT figures from 6k-9k. Revenue have taken it off the website and seem to be just plucking figures out their arse at this stage.
