These have been sitting on the shelf for a long while. Finally got the time & the weather to replace them on my E91. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...41fe62b5d5.jpg

I think most places are just so busy at the moment. I ordered them from tyreleader and got them delivered to a fitter. When the tyres landed I couldn’t get through to the fitter so ended up making 3 trips to them. They were so busy (appointment only and they said a week to fit me in) but I suggested I drop the wheels in and they had them done within a few hours.
The neighbours probably thought I was cracked this morning, swapping the wheels back over with the car completely frosted over in the driveway !
It was the same with getting some exhaust bolts removed. Most garages wouldn’t touch the car. Even Atlas said the car is now classed as a classic and they don’t work on those anymore [emoji23]
On a side note, do you miss your E46 at all?

Ah that’s a pain alright. I guess tyre fitters and the like aren’t as out the door busy down here in Clare as they are in Dublin (although having said that I’ve still been waiting nearly 4 months to get a service date for my Merc with the main dealers in Limerick and Galway).
Yeah I do miss the E46 sometimes, although mine was only a lowly 4 cylinder, they’re a great car. I’d say I miss my E60 more though. And of course my M4 haha. When I think about it there isn’t a BMW I’ve owned that I don’t miss!
Pure madness. Although I think Diarmuid on here experienced similar delays with his bmw.
I’m finding it harder and harder to justify a replacement car for the E46. Ideally I would like the replacement to be less than 10 years old, petrol, 6 cylinder. So that leaves either an M car (completely out of the question) or a 40i and they’re still €30k+

I hear you. I had a similar thought process when I had my E60, although I was in a different boat in that I needed to stick with an economical diesel for my commute. I found the idea of upgrading to anything else hard to justify because the 520d did most things that I needed perfectly already, and the car only cost me €5k. Ultimately I only replaced it because I wanted an automatic and a more modern infotainment system. As I said before, I really like the Merc but I often find myself missing the E60.
Do you mind me asking why an M car is out of the question?
Well it’s out of the question right now, a house purchase last year one of the reasons for that. Also, the majority of my driving now consists of journeys to Kilkenny and back to Dublin every weekend, nearly all motorway. An M car is wasted for that type of driving imo. It was one of the reasons why I sold my E46 M3 years ago. Who knows though…if the market tanks, it might be a different story [emoji3]

That's a problem with most garages at the moment - even the sniff of an older car with a few seized/rusty bolts and they'll say no - they're far too busy with a backlog of lucrative easier work than to be pricking around with blow torches and mini grinders....:)
I've a local Polish outfit who I'd use for dirty work like this - they'll never say no as they've been working these type cars for years back home - it's their bread & butter tbh
They'll also happily fit tyres that I bring to him and when I asked is he not worried about 'insurance' fitting tyres he didn't supply and he burst out laughing......
Last time there, he was in the middle of fitting a 1.9 TDI engine to an '02 Audi RS6 with a blown engine - a different world.....
Yeah that makes perfect sense, the motorway driving is the reason I got rid of my M4. I used it for a bit when I first started doing this commute, and I spent the entire time staring at the odometer and feeling my blood pressure increase along with the mileage… I’d say an M car would be a great daily car if the conditions were right, but that unfortunately does not include racking up mileage on motorways.
