How old are you and what neck of the woods are you in? Best I could do (with haggling) was €980 for fully comp on mine with full NCB protection, windscreen and breakdown assistance; That's with KennCo too. First time under the tonne in the ///M - Axa wanted €1360 and many, many others refused to quote for any number of reasons - 28 is too young, it's a soft-top convertible, over 3.0L etc etc

Insurance is up for renewal on the x5. Apparently AIG are no longer offering policies on the same terms so the broker provided an alternative quote from Chartis. However it's for €1,250!!!! It was about €650 last year.
I think I need to sit down and get over the shock.

I expect it will result in a new broker as well as new insurance co if this is the best they can do for a 37 year old female with full clean licence with no claims ever!

Pretty sure chartis are underwritten by aig.

So I spent some time looking at insurance today.
Here's a summary of the prices I got
FBD €471
Wrightway Elite €1,418
ARB Elite €1,192
Its4women €751
Brittons €805
AA N/a
Allianz N/a
AXA Direct €828.83
Aviva €900ish
Zurich €900ish

The FBD quote is actually the best policy, as well as the cheapest. It has the most options. Open drive, comprehensive cover, driving other cars (3rd party), step back no claims protection, glass cover, breakdown assistance, car hire etc. The policy was already cheaper than the rest but I can still increase the excess to €1,500 which is fine with me as I wouldn't claim for something small anyway and in the case of a full claim I figure we'll be screwed anyway.

Pricing policies at the minute...
So far 4 companies (Aviva, Allianz, AIG, Zurich) wont quote the me on the 318is because the car is a 98 Reg (and is greater than so many years old).
And its not like the other companies are offering anything brilliant either...this place has just gone mad when it comes to insurance!

Liberty was the best I could get. Beating others by a few hundred on the 323
