M3 Insurance

Anybody recommend anybody to use??

I'm getting quotes of around 900Euro on a 99 M3, the Porsche is around 500Euro but thats using my No Claims Bonus, which I cant use on the BMW as you can only use it on one car.....so il be applying fo insurance on the M3 with NO NCB. I have no convictions or penalty points ect, im 29.

Is there anyway to mirror the bonus with anybody?? Or has anybody got any suggestions??

I will be planning on taking the Porsche of the road for a few months, but dont fancy not having a No Cliams Bonus to apply when insuring it.

If your a named driver on another policy you can used that as experience, or some company's can mirror your no claims.

Try First Ireland Marc, 27 1 years NCB I'm paying €1000 Fully comp, not saying it cheap but just to give you an idea of what I'm paying.

If she's 15 years old or older first ireland will insure her as a classic. Limited mileage policy stands me €320 for E30 M3 and E36 M3. They have also never asked me the mileage!

As said First Ireland if its 15 years old you will get classic insurance im paying 250 ish on the iS and to add the touring onto it was only 52euro when I had it :cool:

I rang about a MKII Golf GTi and they wouldn't touch it as it a "performance" car but will do m3's etc....weird...

Unfortunately its a 1999, So wont be 15 years old until after Christmas or sometime next year if there being precise.

Ringing a few brokers now, im with First Ireland (or used them) for my current policy and in fairness im delighted with the quote renewal on the Porsche, just not so happy with the M3 quote.

I wouldn't say they be too fussy with exact dates. They'd probably even cover you for the 6 odd weeks until the new year and change over to a classic.
Any dealings with chopping and changing policies they've been accommodating. It's worth a try

I recently used Arachas.ie brokers. I had been with First Ireland previously but their renewals are getting worse and worse. They could do nothing for me at all. despite no points full no claims and being over 30. Just didnt feel their M3 offering was remotely good. They were beaten by several direct insurers and then arachas came in the best so that is who i am with presently.

Allianz is the insurer.

I was disgusted when you told me that yesterday. I'm the same age with full NCB and I'm shafted with €1450 with Axa. First Ireland couldn't beat it, nobody could.

AXA might be worth a try Marc. Don't think they'll do it as a classic (20+ usually) but they might mirror across if you're taking the Fast Beetle off the road for a while? This is how I do it with the CSL & Golf, although to be fair the latter is no M3!

Ok thanks for the replies,
the classic insurance route worked and First Ireland got onto AIG who agred to do classic car cover once i provide proof off membership to a car club, that wont be a problem.

Quote went from over 900Euro to 415Euro, saving off over 500. Result.

Both cars insured in my own name, two seperate policies, for under 1000Euro.

the first car is 2k but you can up it to as much as 10k if needs be, if you insure a second car as classic 2k is the max allowance.

you need another policy first Ger, it needs to be a second car as such. Buy a 100euro 1.0 car and insure it then hit these up for classic :D:D

As previously said in this thread, one thing that Ireland is OK for on the whole is car insurance. Takes a bit of haggling sometimes but you can usually get there as long as you don't expect complete miracles

It's something that's a frickin nightmare in the UK IME

My insurance is due very soon also. What do I need to have for classic insurance?

Another daily car is the main thing Stan. Your NCB goes on that, and then they'll "mirror" it across onto your classic, with certain limitations e.g. mileage and non-business use

Yeah there is - but the named driver also needs their own policy.

No I tried it on the touring with my brother but they didn't allow it.

EDIT - sorry, that's right what Ken said, he had no policy in his own name so that's why it wouldn't work

Just was on the phone with First Ireland and a guy told me that they dont insure m3 at all. He did not even asked how old I am. I told him to check with AIG he tried and said they wont quote.

I am 24 or 25 in Feb (that can wait as I have a policy with Aviva and they will cover m3 but for mad money) 3 NCB

Get through to the wrong person at First Ireland and it'll be akin to having a conversation with a deaf monkey. Theres a guy who deals specifically with the classic policies, I dealt with him when getting my site recognised as a car club - can't remember his name, but its on their website. He'll be able to deal with it for you.

Think you need to be 25 or older - can you not remember your own age?

I can't remember mine half the time!

Is there an option to park it up and put it on TPF&T until you're 25 in February Stan? Might keep the cost down

I just might have to wait till I am 25 and then start looking again. I will transfer my current policy to m3 for now.

Stan I'm 29 and had no issues with First Ireland getting insurance on the M3, I've used them for the Porsche and old M3 also, they are brokers so I've no idea why they would say that before they even try their contacts.

I'd ring again tomorrow, I was dealing with a guy called "Gavin" in relation to the classic car cover which he got through AIG

well, I am 25 in February, so have to wait anyway.

I had my M3 insured with Aviva when I was 24. I tried first Ireland a few times but had little luck. I'm 26 now and this year I got through to the right person and have both my 318is and M3 on the one policy for €800 with AIG. It was a Dearbhla Brennan I was dealing with

How can you have two cars on one policy?

They're both on limited milage and I had to be a member of a car club. I still got two insurance certs and two discs with, one for each cars registration number but the actual policy number is the same on both certs. Previously I had two policies and two no claims bonus's so this is a much easier way of doing things
