Is there anyone that can clear the airbag light on a E39. It only came on from a steering wheel change.
I'm in Kildare if there's anyone with the tool nearby it would be a great help.

Maybe Mark Allen in Straffan Geoff.
Thanks Andy, I'll see if I can get to them some evening.

Geoff look up the elm 327 you can get them on adverts for 10/15 quid they work with a 3e app called torque pro , it will diagnose and clear engine fault codes etc (the only thing im not sure on is if it knocks airbag lights off so maybe do a search first)
I've tried with another type of scanner but it couldn't clear it so I thought I'd need a proper bmw one. But I might try that tool anyway Gar, it would be handy to have.

I can clear it for you no problem Geoff but it's gonna be a month before I get back.
A handy tool with loads of functions but they won't clear an airbag fault only engine ecuQuote:

There's another WiFi dongle & app from a company called iOBD2 called the XTool. It looks to be a step on from BMWhat. I have not used this yet though.
This is the tool I have Geoff so if you're in Dublin at any stage just let me know and I'll knock it off.Quote:

if its the facelift round bag wheel you put in you have nothing to worry about it will be dual stage only pre march 99 (old shape wheel) was single stage
The car is a pre March '99 build date and it should be a single stage prefacelift m tech wheel that's fitted. The airbag light came on after I had fitted it.

Andy
ah so thats were the 528 went
did you fit it andy ? was the date on the airbag pre march 99 ?
Yea I've Andy's E39. I'll get some pics up soon enough. Thanks for that bit of info Andy.
Yep gone to a great home and the right kind of owner. I didn't actually check the bag date. I got it off DaveG and he said it was a single stage.
Regards,
Andy
Was the battery connected when you fit it , if not how long was it disconnected before you set to work
If it is single stage and was installed in the correct way does the horn work geoff
Battery was disconnected for a few hours iirc.
Regards,
Andy
In that case check the horn could be slip ring wiring
The horn works ok, just checked.
Hopefully it will be easy enough to clear.[/i]
I'm going to have to get my cheap runaround quicker than I thought, airbag light has dropped down the list of lights to worry about :)Quote:

Ah Christ !!! Sorry to hear that Geoff, the car seemed to be driving fine. Try and get onto Valdas and see what he thinks. Hopefully it's something simple (cheap).

Andy
Yea it's strange, it seemed smooth up until then. But it's having difficulty selecting gears, especially going down. Hopefully it won't be serious.

After doing a bit of reading it's sounds like it might be an abs sensor. It's connected with the auto, so hopefully that might be it.
Strange as the gearbox done the same to me but I got the cooler done and new oil in it, weird its not working now was all good.Quote:
