RE: Shaking steering wheel?
Wheels are out of balance by the sounds of things, if you have a set that theres no vibration!
Bring the set down to your local tyre place and ask for them to balance them - only a few quid!
RE: Shaking steering wheel?
Balance is probably off or check for warped discs.
RE: Shaking steering wheel?
Another vote for wheels out of balance. I once saw a case (ex-colleague) where a build up of dried muck on the inside of a wheel put the wheel out of balance & caused the shaking you experienced. For me this is the cheapest & quickest thing to check. Get the front wheels balanced first. Also the rear wheels should be balanced too, often forgotten about.
RE: Shaking steering wheel?
As above really, Also possibly the wheels are buckled?

A buddy of mine had shaking at around 100km/h that ended up being warped discs, this was an E39 though, not sure if that makes any difference.
RE: Shaking steering wheel?
mine was vibrating at 100kph + too, a week after i balanced the rims. turned out one of the wheels was buckled. you really need to get them on a balancer.
RE: Shaking steering wheel?
What car ?
Mileage ?
Original front suspension ?
Condition of brakes ?
Re: Shaking steering wheel?
causes could be slightly sticking front caliper, all suspension would be well past it now is well new bushs/wishbones tie rods etc
If your positive the wheels are not buckled but judging by the speed it comes in id look at front suspension and calipers if the pistons not going back in all the way it will cause a nasty vibration
