Bent control arm? Or maybe something else.?
So today finally got a proper tracking job done on the e36 :) .. But was told that my left front wheel is an inch further behind than the front right. So the car is still pulling a little bit but not as bad as it was before the tracking. Any ideas what the prob is.? Couldn't see anything bent or obvious that would cause it.?
RE: Bent control arm? Or maybe something else.?
Worn lolypop bushes maybe or a mismatched pair? Item 5 here. Or mismatched wishbones

one may have caused the other ie if the wishbone is the wrong type and will effect the geometry of the front which may have lead to your top mount issue also ;)
RE: Bent control arm? Or maybe something else.?
I was thinking along the same line Aswel man :) I'll have it up on the lift tomorow and hioefully see what my issue is :)
RE: Bent control arm? Or maybe something else.?
Had it looked at anyways lads and nothing there that could cause it, all the bushing, links, everything is the same and all in good shape..
I'm just after thinking would it be the tracking.? He told me he done the tracking and zeroed it all.!? Should it be at zero? Or what spec should it be at for toe and camber and all that like.?
RE: Bent control arm? Or maybe something else.?
Did you get a print out of the tracking sheet? Any pics of both front sides to show what you mean? Sounds very unusual.
RE: Bent control arm? Or maybe something else.?
I havent got a print out man, this place dosent do them, there the only crowd I could find in my area like to do a car on coilovers,, but he tracked it for me and set the whole setup to zero, then told me my front left wheel is an inch further back to the rear of the car than the front right.? The car was never hit or smash off curbs or anything so I don't no how this has happened like.?

Yepp checked it all over plenty times had it up again this morning and everthing seems bang on.? Just wondering would the top mount issue I had have anything to do with it.? Could the shock be fitted a bit off like? Or are the holes cantered like, there's no kind of oval holes for the bolts on the end of the shock to adjust near the hub .?
RE: Bent control arm? Or maybe something else.?

All points would need to be secure before it's tracked including the top mount. If there were an issue with something being loose or worn any person tracking a car worth his salt should notice this and refuse to track until the issue is sorted first.
Here's a link for every part of your front suspension.

Thanks Gar :) I don't know so man there's nothing visually out of place on the whole front setup like checked it all over checked all the bushings for play and wear, seems all good, had another lad look at it yesterday he has 2 e36's on the road and he said it seems good to him he couldn't see where the problem was either said it all looks the same as his two.. Hit a dead end at this stage really Until I get another brainwave..

Was the guy who did the work chatting shit? Measure the distance?
RE: Bent control arm? Or maybe something else.?
No man he showed me and all when he had it tracked was still up and measured it and all when I was there and there was about 21/22 mm difrence compared to the driver side
RE: Bent control arm? Or maybe something else.?
Where are you actually measuring from? Try measure from two fixed points. Like when the wheels are straight go from the centre of the jacking point to the centre of the wheel.
