Anybody in Limerick able to run a diagnostics on an e92?
The 335i has randomly decided it will not start :(
I put the foot on the brake pedal and push the start button as normal but nothing happens, as if I don't have my foot on the brake pedal (electrics still go on)
I assume the brake switch is fine because I'm still only able to bring the car out of "P" when I have my foot on the brake pedal.
Battery was replaced in January and the car was driven normally until yesterday evening.
Anybody around with diagnostics kit able to help?

Perfect, thanks Enda :)
Meanwhile, I've checked the relevant fuses behind the glovebox and they're fine, I also checked the engine ground in the engine bay and there are no signs of wires being brittle or water in it or anything like that. Is there anything else I can check myself in the mean time?

Used my breakdown cover to get towed to Alpina motor works, took 3 people about an hour to push the car uphill out the gate of the house, the truck couldn't drive in because of low hanging trees... Anyway... Eventually got it on the truck and into the garage and waiting on a call back for the diagnosis...

At least it's nice and clean and looks good even when it's not running :D

Just got the call back, it's the starter motor, 400 for a new one fitted. Does it sound about right?

No way! Nicest man in Ireland, someone else would've said feck it and took off but he didn't want to leave me stuck and was pushing the car with me to within an inch of his life! Respect

RE: Anybody in Limerick able to run a diagnostics on an e92?
sorry to hear that, just pm'd you :)
Most common reason for limp mode on the N54 engines are the vanos solenoids, but I replaced both a few months ago (check thread or service history for exact date), second most common (according to forums anyway) is the charge pipe, so hopefully it's that, would be a good opportunity to upgrade it if so ;) get the codes read though anyway ofcourse to find out for sure, the N54 is incredibly popular in America and there's a wealth of information online, check out N54tech.com for some reading if you have some free time, everything from technical help to crazy 600bhp+ modified N54s :)

RE: Anybody in Limerick able to run a diagnostics on an e92?
Sorry to hear. I owned the car before Peter, but it was Mark Murphy Motors in the Woollen Mills in Douglas who always did the servicing and maintenance on the car for me and he has all the updated computer software if you want to try him as he'd be very familiar with the car.

Cheers for the help guys she was diagnosed and the high pressure fuel pump is gone. Getting it sorted today so hopefully that'll be my bad luck gone with the car.
