Avoid buying anything but genuine or lemforder mounts
I'd imagine I'm best going to dealership here?

Id have no problem using febi Bilstein parts iv yet to see any complaints and the quality is very high on each item
I've used febi bilstein in the past on my old a4 and my gti, the quality was crap, they didn't last any length of time. I wouldn't have them on my car.
Iv also heard of lemforder (bought outside bmw ) and the qualitys not the same they can crap out in as little as 2 years
I for one have no issue using febi lemforder are not the only manufacturer in the world that can make a block of rubber that lasts its merely brand snobbery that nothing else can compare to the brand that bmw used at that time
I'm just posting from my own personal experience of febi bilstein being relentlessly shit, I'm also not talking about them going in years, the parts lasted months. I replaced them all with genuine items and had no subsequent issues.
The engine mounts of the e39 are oil filled and vacuum actuated, not your run of the mill mount, I also wouldn't fancy having to change them twice in a short period of time.
If cost was the same or even a small bit higher Id go for lemforder myself , but I researched febi Bilstein heavily before grabbing some tie rod assemblys they were half the price of lemforder at the time and I found little issue online most were very happy with them iv 4 drop links on over a year without issue is well still look new
So by the sounds of things I'm gonna go genuine as don't intend on changing them anytime soon. Not a massive jump between lemforder an genuine. Here is some of today's prices so far.
Local motor factor. €98
Kyb & lemforder € 190
Joe duffys €250
Haven't contacted cab yet so we'll see how I get on there.
I changed all engine vacuum hoses as had 0 boost when the car arrived to me, thankfully boost is back along with better mpg's an no nasty smoke from exhaust anymore. But it seems as if the power is still a little low on the lower rpm's. I didn't replace the engine mount vacuum pipes, could this be the cause or a separate system?

have you checked that the actuator on the turbo is freely moving?
Yes all seems fine there. Getting a bit on the black smokey side again. Maf is fine, removed egr. No swirl flaps an gave it a service. Feel like I'm missing something simple an over looking it.

Could be a boost leak or injectors, have you checked the correction values on the injectors?Quote:

In that case I would remove the intake and clean out the ports, it doesn't have to be spotless, you just need to remove the build up that's reducing the diameter of the ports
Only hesitated doing it as heard of the seals falling in when lifting manifold out. Not sure if this would be common or just an unlucky few.

I've removed my manifold half a dozen times and never had seals loose enough to fall, they gripped by a seat in the manifold so unless you're ham-fisted, you should be fine
Advise much appreciated. Thanks for the help Dave.

I bought a febi mount for my 530d because I was broke. It is absolute shite. Much noisier at idle.Quote:

Loads of content online that supports them being the oem manufacturer.
Apparently Boge/Sachs/lemforder are all corteco.
Lemforder defo make the original control arms and they aren't exactly the same.
So who to believe if parts dont even look the same it looks to me like different materials have been used for both mounts above so how can the quality be the same ?
i mean if the parts dont look identical with bmw logo removed and are not made from the same materials id question it unless bmw themselves confirmed it or their was a corteco name on an original mount removed from an e39 i could post a picture from another supplier of one thats much closer to the genuine
Apologies your always on the end of my questions its just in my nature to question everything [emoji3]
Nah man, nothing wrong with playing devils advocate.Quote:

You're taking things far too literally. I never stated they were the same company, I'm not that stupid or naive.Quote:

On 6 cylinder petrol oem is Lemförder.
You can clearly see their logo on the mount and bmw logo is stamped on the other side.
