Has anyone ever fitted 18 inch rims to an E36??
Looking at a set of rims but dont know if they will fit or not.
The rears are worrying me the most. I want to fit no less than a 255/35/17 tyre. Ideally I would watn to fit a 265.
The rim is 18 x 9J ET 45.
Has anyone ever fitted something like this??
I specifically dont want to roll arches so if they dont fit I wont be making them fit.

You shouldn't have any problem with these offsets, maybe you will need 5-8mm spacer at the back too.

Re: Has anyone ever fitted 18 inch rims to an E36??
I had 255/35/18 on the rear of lowered e36 touring and the inner arch was rolled

How low was it dropped?

RE: Has anyone ever fitted 18 inch rims to an E36??
A mate of mine had this setup. He had 5mm spacers on the rear but ended having to get the rears rolled to prevent rubbing
....and had no problems in his ownership from then on...

Eibach sportline springs on the rear low enough for a family car fully laden!

Using will they fit, Comparing to a Staggered M3 rear.
Diameter 619.8mm 635.7mm
Circumference 1947.2mm 1997.1mm
Poke 67mm 69.3mm
Inset 149mm 159.3mm
Speedo error 0% -2.5%
Reading at 30mph 30mph 29.25mph
Reading at 60mph 60mph 58.5mph
Ride height gain 0mm 7.95mm
Arch gap loss 0mm 7.95mm
They'll be just on the limits of fitting, Possibly need a small spacer and/or an arch roll.
TBH though 18'' are too big for an E36.

RE: Has anyone ever fitted 18 inch rims to an E36??
Need a bit of guidance from the wheel whore fraternity again.
This is actually wrecking my head because I really want these particular rims.
Will this size fit lads without any mods??
18x8.5j ET22
I was thinking no because that offset pushes the rim too far out towards the arch.
I also dont want to make the car handle like a shopping trolley.
Any help is greatly appreciated gents!

Car feels like crap.
Tramlines like crazy.
They look too big.
Never thought you would be into this.
Just get a nice 17".

E36's look great on with the right 18 inch wheel and an appropriate ride height.
In this case I have found the wheel I want but its not the right size so I'll have to keep looking. I am intending to keep the standard E36 offset but I just wanted to check if an ET22 would actually fit. But it wont.
I'll just have to revert to 'Plan B'....

I used to like 18's on them tbh but not anymore. I demand a PM with what wheels your thinking, won't tell anyone ;)

These were the wheels I was hoping for but had the ET22 offset

Went for a different set of wheels.
Well I thought so.
Seller is arsing about! :(
Might have to implement 'Plan C' but that would mean hunting down the back of the sofa....

RE: Has anyone ever fitted 18 inch rims to an E36??
I had 18s on my touring (thread gone up in previous cars section), afaik they were 18 x 8.5, running 235s on the back, 225s on the front. Andres might recall the offset. The car was dropped pretty low they never rubbed on the front and gave full lock. The back however rubbed on the inside of the arch but tbh only when the car was fairly well loaded or hitting a fairly hefty bump. IMO they filled the arches perfectly but the right 17s do a fine job too.

Cant remember the off set i'm afraid. But when i had them on my e36 coupe on standard shocks and springs they were perfectly fine ( wasn't rubbing the arches ) But my car is pretty much empty in the back all the time.
I think 18's are bit too big for a e36 anyway.
