Thoughts on back box delete?
Reasons to do it:
- Noise! - nicer / louder etc
- Customization - you can choose the tips you want
- Cost - much, much cheaper than an aftermarket exhaust
- Doesn't effect NCT (could someone confirm?)
Reasons not to do it:
...
Is there any reason not to do it?

Pm Dean...he has a straight through stainless. Not the very same but similar.
Sounds huge!

Seems overkill why not just chop off the backbox completely and weld a twin tip on
RE: Thoughts on back box delete?
I love the Harman Kardon switch :D
Feck it though, I'd say chop it off and straight pipes. But from my understanding, once resonator and cats are not tampered with, it should be a nicer more aggressive sound without it being over the top or attracting negative attention. Is that right or will it be boy racer loud? I don't want boy racer loud!

Black E36 passed me a few weeks ago on Baggot St which sounded like it had a hole in its exhaust..but it was well modded, so presume it was intentional. Didn't sound good at all, but that may have been more than just a back box delete

Decat I'd say.
RE: Thoughts on back box delete?
go up to car fit in mayfield peter they are the best around they will put flanges on each end so back box is changeable for the nct, a nice shotgun style exhaust in stainless steel is what you need :)
RE: Thoughts on back box delete?
Awful mod car will be too loud and sound shite.
Even V8's sould terrible without some kinda exhaust on them.
A nice exhaust with a pre silencer, a backbox and a decat is the job.
If you want a pipe from manifold back you need a Civic.

They are very loud though.
Thoughts on back box delete?
If cat still in there not too bad and plus peter isn't 17 so guards will be nicer haha
RE: Thoughts on back box delete?
Lads I'm talking about leaving resonator and cats on, just replacing the backbox with pipes. Never heard a car that had that done in person (or maybe I did and wasn't aware of it) but my question is will it be too loud? I don't want obnoxious loud at all. I just don't want to spend a fucking grand on an eisenmann, it's just too much! There must be an alternative.
RE: Thoughts on back box delete?
check inbox/facebook i found your solution :)
RE: Thoughts on back box delete?
Seems quite loud on the m52 definitely louder then m54

RE: Thoughts on back box delete?
It's always hard to tell from videos, but you do get the impression it's loud don't ya? :D
Like the sound in the second video all the same.
Re: Thoughts on back box delete?
True one video could sound good then another rubbish some cars sound great with a muffler delete others not so much
Iv given it a lot of thought myself if an auto can sound this good Watch "BMW 525i sport, muffler delete sound" on YouTube
BMW 525i sport, muffler delete sound: http://youtu.be/oA76UC-FxFo
Like you id like to hear one in the flesh but sometimes you just have to be the first to try something at least if its bad its easily reversible i wouldnt touch cats or resonators
Tbh the novelty has kind of worn away for me for now but its nice to know the option is available if i change my mind again
I even have a stainless twin 76mm tip brand new in the press for it [emoji3]

Re: Thoughts on back box delete?
I removed the backbox and put 2 50mm stainless steel pipes instead. Left cat and resonator in . Its unfuckingbelieveably loud ! And it drones at 60mph
Not advisable to do
Then again watching people jump when it backfires is funny

Thank you kind sir for your clear honest answer :D
That's out for me so.
E92 hunting isn't going so well so may hold on to the e36 for a while yet, so may get some sort of exhaust for it, but I'll see how it goes and play it by ear. No pun intended :p
