It would be a good opportunity to replace the crankshaft rear seal and the plastic coolant elbow at the back of the head.

While the engine is out and the car up in the air it time to get the wheel off to clean and seal them up for the winter

Off with the road wheel and with the drift wheels the bonus of having a bmw drift car il be using it wheel to put the vert rolling for a while so i can get it out side to wash the bay.

After a slow start this thread is now getting interesting. Fair play to you. I'd be doing some preventative maintenance as you have things stripped down now, like the seals mentioned above, plus the likes of the thermostat & water pump. replace the inlet & exhaust gaskets, gearbox selector seal, and a few other things I can't think of just now.

Il have an update for this soon . already on it just after doing the coolant system (water pump & housing)
The dead line the car is this Sunday the 30th but I know it won't be fully finished but hopfly the engine bay will be back together anyway

Also while engine is out get a new plastic flange for the back of the head as these are a bugger to change with the engine in place and its good preventative maintenance on the M43's. Nice work BTW

Great work so far. Just curious to know would it not have been easier to steam clean the bay when the engine was out?

there a number reason i didnt just steam clean it and the biggest one is cause we dont like steam cleaning engine/bay one being cause all it does is move the dirt around and then u ether have to was wash it or clean it with microfiber after .

Thats insane work Darren, your a brave man to take all that on serious detailing man.. should have got you down to do my 36 while i had the engine out for the swap :( lol :p
