E36 short shifter question
How do!
So there's a fella over on driver (maybe here too, hello if you are :hehe!:) has a short shifter for sale. Small enough money but I don't want to buy if it won't do the job. I don't have any experience with these but I am aware that only certain ones will do be correct.
I've asked for a part number which the seller can't provide but has provided a link to an ebay seller with what looks very like what's on offer.
Here's a pic (with some metal gear knob attached)

And here's the link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E30-E3...item2ec7b570f9
I appreciate it may be hard to tell but if anyone with any experience has any input I'd appreciate it.
RE: E36 short shifter question

Thanks, I'll check and see does he have all the bits and go from there.
PS how is it once installed?
RE: E36 short shifter question
I couldn't live with one daily, felt horrible, rough, real agricultural. I didn't like the fe, no comfort at all, might be different for other people
RE: E36 short shifter question
Invest in the proper one from bmw (60e) they are a godsend completely transformed the gearbox in mine id never go back
But i do agree with jason it will be a personal thing like the colour of a car ,tyre choice etc you will either love it or hate it
E36 short shifter question
I have one from a z3 in the e30 and its a great improvement, not agricultural at all, just nice and precise
RE: E36 short shifter question
Oh I've driven cars with them and I do like it but for 20 quid why not? What benefit does the BMW one have over this I wonder?
RE: E36 short shifter question
Much more r&d bmws budget is huge , the one above looks like chinese tat off fleabay little effort put in more a universal metal bar then precise shifter
But what do you want for 20e buy it and try it if its useless just sell it again
RE: E36 short shifter question
I had one just like that one pictured on my 323 and loved it and it was off eBay. Also had a genuine ac schnitzer on the 328 was good too, I would buy & try at that price
RE: E36 short shifter question
i have that exact one i think from the looks of it. no complaints here. it is a really short shift tho from neutral to 2nd theres maybe a half inch
RE: E36 short shifter question
Someone got there before me :hehe!:
Still interesting to see that you can spend 20 quid on a kit rather than 80 to 100 and get the same thing!

How can you cant say that without testing all kits though each one will behave differently
The 300e uuc kit could be better or worse then the bmw one the 20 quid ebay one could be better or worse unless you try them all you wont know
But from experience you usually get what you pay for im not saying buy the most exspensive on the market but quality usually comes at a price take tyres for example [emoji6]
All is not created equal so its unlikely you would be getting the same thing for a much cheaper price
RE: E36 short shifter question
Maybe, I'm just going on the comments others
E36 short shifter question
I've had both bmw and uuc short shifters.uuc is a much better shifter in my opinion.but very pricey.
