The '85 Saab 900i 4-door was so uncool it was cool :D It was only unreliable though as I was 19 and drove the crap out of it!
I've had some seriously shoddy hire cars - Mitsubishi Carisma, a Laguna that I had to stall because the start/stop button didn't work properly, and the worst of the lot was a Peugeot 307 for 4 months that had a mind of its own and wasn't very nice to drive. That was the most disappointing, as small Peugeots before that were lovely from what I've ever experienced
I once ended up with a Ford Fusion for about 3 months, and no I don't mean the American V8 fusion I mean the 1.4 diesel coffin on wheels, it was brown also.
Most troublesome is a toss up.between my 1st and 2nd car
1st 99 punto headgasket went and all windows failed
2nd 02 fiat stilo 1.2 6 speed manual :-D first the clutch went then the gearbox then a heap of electrical shite
then i bought a tdi passat great workhouse then my e36 uphill from then on amd cars became more then just a means of transport
worst car was a mk3 golf gti 8v, it was heavy and gutless not to mention thirsty beyond belief, everything broke and if you sneezed in the bloody thing it would rust.
Most embarressing car was my first car, a b5 passat estate, this was back when estate cars were not cool, it was also poverty spec and had things that I believe were known as hub caps.
My bro had a MkIV GTi 1.8T for about a year from new, and has refused to ever buy a VW againQuote:

The dealers in England where he lives were shocking too though, which certainly didn't helpQuote:

Not seen a 3.2L A3 for years, and I bet there isn't one in Ireland
Company car once, a bleedin '98 Toyota Corolla 5 dr. I asked for a red one and got wnat can only be described as a pink turd. Amazingly got done for speeding in it.
Believe it or not there was a 3.2 for sale in Wexford last year, went for small money as far as I'm aware.Quote:

I'd say it went for feck all Dave, what with the tax and missing out on the "image" of the S3Quote:

Those 8L S3s are still a top quality product IMO
1987 1.2 Opel kadett 3 door touring, when i was a first year apprentice I was stuck for a car for work and bought it off my cousin for £500.
What's the point of a 3 door touring, dam think gave me nothing but problems.
Jeez, this is a tough one cos I've had a few right clunkers!!
1984 Opel Corsa; heater fan never worked so if it was damp out, it was all foggy in. Radio never worked either..+ it stank!
1991 Renault Clio, only started when it felt like it.
^^ good job there was no NCT in them days.
1995 Toyota Celica ST202.. What a shit-box!! Spent most of the time I had it trying to get it through the NCT to make it road legal so I could start a proper restoration on it. Kept failing on emissions, even after forking out over 1k on a new cat, still failed so I gave up and sold it on; full disclosure.
Then bought the E46 which went well for a while till about 6 months into ownership the engine decided to shit itself. A bit of Internet searching led me to discover the world of motoring forums.....
And the rest is history.
Any Audi I owned.. all a bag a cold lifeless scrap.. the rest were good though
Has to be my first car..Citroen Saxo VTR in full max power style..Bodykit,17's,dropped to the floor and full boot build :)
What Audis did you have Jay? An '89 80 1.8S for 3 weeks was as far as I ever got. Quite liked it though for the styling and build qualityQuote:

haha Jeff you totally missed the max power phase. It hada full sound system in the boot. Two big subs and an amp..I used to have to put the pram in the back seat beside my son :D
I was 17 and had worked labouring on the Laus when they were building it, saved up and had €1100 for a car and €900 to get the first payment on insurance sorted. Got insurance for about €2800 under my 27yr old brother hahaha mental money so had to be cheap car and small engine....
Ended up in a Fiat Cinquento....1.1 sporting....the lads still to this day give me abuse, and i mean abuse, over it!!!! Suppose it didnt help i put a Janspeed on it :D
Motor of god.....http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/07/18/bezymazy.jpg
Had it 3 months and then got a 1 owner Escort 1.4LX beast :D was a nice car for a 18year old i suppose...still reckon the Escort was one of the best cars i ever had never abit of trouble and only sold it as i got €1k more then i paid 18 months later :D

My first car was a 1976 Mini, I had at least 5 different engines in it. I bought it for £100 & it was rough enough. I tidied it up a bit but it was not very reliable. You would get soaked when you went through a puddle there was that many holes in the floor. I used the back of an old washing machine to make a new floor for the driver's side, the job was going really well until I realised the my buddy had cut the brake pipe in two places with the angle grinder! We did the most unsafe repair on the brake line afterwards!
I drove the life out of it most of the time hence needing all the engines, it started out as an 850cc, then it got anther 850cc engine, then 1,000cc, then 1,100cc & finally it got a 1,300cc Metro engine. The speedo used to break in it quite regularly too. There's no way it would ever have passed an NCT.
It was bad but it was kind of cool too, back then no one had cars in college & the whole cult thing with the Minis made it cool. I followed it up with a 1974 VW Beetle, people still do e up to me to this day asking me if I "was the guy with the cool Beetle in college" or "do you still have it". That was the best fun car I've owned to date. I couldn't go anywhere without being spotted, if frequently be delayed by people wanting to talk about the car or telling me stories of their daily remembers that had VW Beetles. I even got pulled in by the Gardai on quite a few occasions who just wanted to look at the car! And they'd blatantly tell me that! One Garda told me that he had driven one in reverse from Malin Head to Mizen for charity, another motorcycle cop had me stopped chatting for nearly an hour asking me about all the customisations I had some & how I them. Another motorcycle cop used to give me grief over the yellow on black California style plates & the wheels (Weller) that used to stick out beyond the arches. He always called me by my first name without even needing to check who I was, this was the 90's so no pulse & it was Cork city not a small town. Spent a fortune on it again not a great car but the best fun. Went with BMWs after those two, two iconic cars as #1 & #2, not too bad I suppose.
1992 Suzuki Cultus. My lawnmower had more grunt.
3cyl 1.0L.
So underpowered that when you turned on the A/C it felt like someone pulled up the handbrake a few notches.
But it was my first proper car so I was chuffed with it, it did a great job of lugging hungover students in and out of DCU.
A rover 414I ...I'll get my coat
My 93 starlet 1.3 the xli model no less, bought it when I was 19 and paid through the nose for insurance but I didn't care I just wanted to be on the road. Drove it for almost 3 years and went every where in it, ended up in a ditch once and almost the dodder river but she survived it all. Got a fair bit of stick over it especially when it started fading to pink but I didn't care, she was a beast to me :P

Had to be the Xantia. 1.TD. Don't get me wrong, grand car but the reason it was embarrassing was they have air suspension run off 4 spheres. When these fail it plays havoc. So obviously mine did, I swear to god the front of the car used to bounce up and down like something you'd see a gang banger driving!! People stared! :hehe!:
Had to be the rav4 i drove at 17 . Was very cheap on insurance (even though 1.8 petrol) and I got it really really cheap :) sold it 6 months later but had some amazing times in it got 170kmh out of it on the link in cork and also ran out of petrol many times in that car hahah
It's not what you can buy . It's what you can build

I have to say it was Prius. Had it not so long time ago but sold it after two months. Great car for saving money though.
I may have bought a Ford Ka once.....
Had a mondeo that used to steer on its own and wasn't fond of staying running.
Actually cut out during the test drive when I was selling...the chap still bought it!
Bought a black '94 318is after that.
I ended up in a rental one once. Felt like driving a boat and had no space for anything in the boot. Never again.Quote:

I had a 660cc Subaru vivio I used to use for traveling to work, only ever let me down once when I pushed it past 85mph on the n2 and the fan belt snapped.

1997 1.6 Rover 400 for me, absolute disaster of a car! Elec windows didnt work, riddled with rust, tranny made some scary sounds and finally the timing belt snapped on it!Quote:

Worst I had was a 03 renault scenic 1.4...wife was whingeing about tax and fuel on bigger engined cars I had so bought it to see would it be cheaper to have.it was such a heap of shite.tax was very cheap but was sa.e on fuel as a 2 litre car.constantly broke.would loose power and cut out..have to wait a while and it would start and run fine again..wrecked my head for the month I had it, thdre was always something wrong.final straw was when overtaking a truck and the power died.nearly killed me..ha ha.renault are even worse than fiat

Tough one, but 03 Renault megane diesel. Learned most things I know about cars in the 18 months I had it because something was always breaking. Great mpg but the rest was shocking.
Throw up between that and Citroen Xsara. Bloody French! :P
