Terrible, no chemistry between Chris Evans and Matt le Blanc. I only laughed at Sabine and the challenge was torturously boring

Very surprised to say I thought Matt le Blac was a perfect fit.
I'd quite happily swap Chris Evans for Chris Harris.
Everything else aside, cinematography is still the best there is for
motor related tv.
Watched some of it, but I couldn't take to it. I guess their chemistry will get better over time but for now it wasn't great.
The dialogue between them felt a bit wooden alright. Chris Evans seemed very shouty and easily excitable.
I thought the rally car is a good change from the Chevrolet whatever car. However, a feature on 2 American cars was a bad choice IMHO as no one in the UK cares about American cars. Also, they should have made sure the two robins were going to make it out of London. A shit box on a flat bed does not make for good TV.
I'd say next week is make or brake for me
Gave up halfway through, painful watching Gordon Ramsey and whoever the other lad was!

I thought the whole programme felt like someone's first venture on Youtube. I'll wait and see what Harris brings to it. As Xworks said above, production quality was top notch......maybe just watch it with 'mute' on!

I thought even production was very poor. Bad angles, editing and even some of the filters made for an average watch.
As far as I know few key people left production as well to go to amazon show. Hopefully Eddie and Chris Harris can add some life to it.
This was always going to be a tough sell, replacing what had become an institution. It was also hard being the first to air, before the three amigo's go to air with their show. Its clear that there was some nervousness, etc. among the presenters. It showed in some of the two handed parts particularly. I missed the earliest part of it but all in all I thought it has enough going for it for a first episode to offer some hope.
In some respects I thought that it was more of a car show than the old Top Gear had been for a very long time, and I wouldn't see that as a bad thing at all. The old version had become about buffoonery more than anything else, a televisual lads mag with only a thin thread of relevance to cars. The era of Lads mags is over.
It'll be interesting to see how JC and the others reinvent the format in their new show. I suspect that American conservatism will cramp their style a little bit, even if they have a mega-budget. How that tension plays out will be worth seeing. We know Clarkson has a short fuse - the whole reason the debacle arose - so how he handles it will tell much about his character :).
All I could hear throughout the show was Clarkson laughing his arse off. Get rid of Evans. It was like TFI Friday in a car park.
Haven't watched it yet, but I think some people have the blinkers on when it comes to just how bad the old Top Gear was on occasion. It had become virtually unwatchable. That's before we mention how vile Clarkson had become with some of his racist and xenophobic outbursts. Also worth mentioning that the initial episodes with James May looked like he'd never seen a tv camera before, and the studio 'banter' was horribly forced.
Will take a few episodes for it to bed down - am pretty certain the non studio segments will be strong with the likes of Harris involved.
So verdict on last night, imo seemed a bit better. Evans is very annoying but LeBlanc seemed more comfortable. Section about the LT McLarens was very good

I like Le Blanc, Can't stand Evans. (Too loud & Constantly tweeting about views FACT!)
Turned it off half way through the SUV test, Just boring.
McLaren bit was okay but you couldn't really screw that up with those cars!
I prefered the buffoonery of the last 3, Yes it was scripted but their was some genuine moments and laughs. If I want to know all about cars I'll watch 5th gear.
RIP Top Gear. (At least while Evans is still there)
LeBlanc and Harris should be the pairings IMO. LeBlanc for the crowd pleasers and Harris on actual car reviews whilst driving - something not an awful lot of presenters can manage (Eddie Jordan in the Merc jeep being a good example here :D).
I wonder how much Mclaren paid for the 'promotion'?? They still haven't allowed them officially review/critique the P1 which is a shame. Maybe if Button is driving it..
Overall, too early for an opinion, but episode 2 got less fast forwarding than episode 1.
Not as bad as last week, I'd have preferred a different presenter for the McLaren segment and I'm going to take a wild guess and assume the car sliding etc footage was someone else at the wheel.
The Star in the car section is starting to look like the Graham Norton show

I didn't see the first episode so cant comment. But the 2nd episode I did and I thought it was cringeworthy at times.
For those who missed it

Just finished episode 3 there and really enjoyed it. Think Chris Harris is a great addition.
Thought the Hoonigan segment was good too.
Chris Harris was great, very much like Richard Hammond in delivery I thought. He interacted with Matt LeBlanc very well too and they were a good pairing. They both seem to love cars and are very good entertainers too.
The Hoonigan section was very good too, the cut away shot to the "Queen" looking out the window was funny.
Having essentially 5 presenters is too much though and makes it seem like no-one has ownership of the programme. Also, interviewing 2 people at once is a farce.
I think Chris Evans is the issue, getting sick after a drive in the Audi with Sabine is a sacking offence in my view. What that says is that even though she has driven thousands in the Ring Taxi Evans can't handle the same experience. That may not be true and may even be unfair but it's all about impression on TV. The general view in our house was "He's a girl" - and that didn't come from me! He also doesn't come across as loving cars, in the way that Harris did as he described the details on the Ferrari. Instead Evans seems like he's got a big deck of Top Trump cards that he's reading the details off. He comes across as a very successful, very astute car investor who is trying to appear to be a car lover. The problem is, it's impossible to be both.
Ploughing a lone furrow here - but I really like the new series. I've always been an Evans fan, Le Blanc is good too - you can see them steadily getting more natural. The other presenters are almost like members of mission impossible - they're drafted in when needed! That said - loved the Ferrari and hot hatch section.
Anyway, thought it was far more watchable than anything I can remember from the previous few series. Only thing I don't like is the stars introducing each other.
Thought last night was a total turn around on the previous shows, Evans seemed to tone himself down a bit I felt. All the features were excellent entertainment and I really like Rory Reid too. Honestly I dread the thought of seeing Eddie Jordan back on the screen for any forthcoming features

I wonder is Evan's a transition to LeBlanc being the lead ?
Certainly it felt like it was the Matt show with Chris Evans as the 'comedy' sidekick

Heads up for tonight's episode, based around Kerry as seen in the media 2 months back.

Chris Evans has left the show - shame imo.
Delighted. I personally couldnt take him. But big up to him for realising he is the worst part of the show and stepped down without a fuss.
Best move they could have made. There's some hope the show might survive now
I didn't think he was too bad. He did get better each episode.
The general content and execution of the shows improved.
Like all Top Gears of past there was some garbage parts.
Am I the only one that can't stand Matt Le Blanc's really dry attitude?
Only watched 2 episodes and the only ones I've liked are the guys that came from YouTube
