Looking for recommendations for roll cages.
Would like something that doesn't cover the door so it can retain NCT.
Also want it to be a full cage.

Roco or stone motorsport
Roco was off building made shit for the last year or two so cuold be flat out.
As far as I’m aware it needs to be bolt in to pass the NCT

Is that true about nct? Need to check that.
And has to be a rear half cage too

Porsche GT3 and GT2 have welded factory cages don't they?
Looks like safety devices bolt in is the only way.
Will a 6 point cage bolt in pass?
When i looked into it the cage had to be removed before NCT
Remember following a thread many moons ago on an e30 M3 which was having the
S85 V10 engine and running gear installed. Piper motorsports in the states built it.
They done a very neat job on the roll cage by integrating the uprights into the A and B
pillars, allowing all but the rear x brace of the cage to be hidden behind trim.
Heres a small bit about it, I think the full thread was somewhere on S14.net but
I can't get in to that website any more.

Thanks Brian. I will have a look for that car.
I would prefer a weld in cage but that will likely not pass nct. Which leaves me with bolt in only.
I know plenty cars with weld in rollacages that passed nct. As long as you've no door bars, i.e; access to the car is not restricted your fine.
Maybe some nct testers are more strict of course.
Another spanner in the mix now lol!!!
I would be 100% sure ,in case of accident , insurance would be not valid .
Probably but insurance will be invalid for 90% of modified bmws on the road if it really came to it lol
Wiechers 6 point bolt in ordered
disagree, nobody will check brakes ,suspension or other stuff. Roll cage is something u cant miss, and is body strengthening which is why can do more damage to other vehicle ,thats why its not approved in ireland afaik. i cant imagine what must happen ,and bette not to happen, that somebody would take car for full check
after some accident .but once would see caged car in accident , booom !!! here we go,its what i mean

But seriously what’s the point in a weld in cage if it’s not a competition car? Even a bolt in seems like the last thing on the list if building a track day car

See where your coming, Valdas from but in terms of nct, I know for a fact that a cage is fine. Doesn't matter if it's weld or bolt in as long as there's no sharp edges and no door bars restricting access.
Couple of different nct testers I've asked said that's what they were told in relation to them.
Some lads might request and engineers report alright but that's the biggest issue you can have.
As for what's the point. Main reason for. A cage is being able to make optimum use of a harness :)
You'd be amazed how much stiffer a car with a cage can feel like too.
Rollcages are one of the last things on the list for paddy spec trackcars but they should be pretty much one of the first things on the list :)
Paddy spec trackers,not our schooners.
Nothing serious about my track days :). If I wrap the car I just don't want to be mangeled with it.
