I love the run between Glendalough and Hollywood. Then on to Blessington. The Road had a good surface and little traffic, there is long lines of sight that allow you to use all the road. You can drive most spiritedly :)

Sally gaps and old one but a good one, problem is the road surface so our sporty supension can cause some lack of confidence.
Kilmacanogue to Laragh and onwards to Blessington etc is a nice blast. A few of us from the old forum got together on the odd early Sunday morning for a spin on that route...gotta emphasize early is necessary to beat the tour buses etc.

Haven't driven it in a while but there's a great road from Ashbourne to garristown in north Dublin. A very fast road with a couple of tighter twisty bits but it's the line of sight that makes it. There's basically no hedging on the road so you can see into the next two corners most of the time.
Another bonus is there is extremely little traffic on the road.
Sounds to me like there is an appetite for driving meets coming into the summer.....maybe I will start a new thread. Suppose I go out early anyway on my tod, so why not put up flare and see if anyone want to join in....worst that can happen is I go on my own.
Good idea?
..........
Lets set up a thread on the meets and events and ask for a sticky too, that way regional groups can be set up too.
I’m in. Work travel will compromise me a bit but this sounds ideal. Even early in the morning works [emoji1303]
Important to post on the forum too so as to get new people involved, dont want to get too Cliquey.......
Early in the morning is great for me, nobody on the roads, no traffic corps, gets me home early too to get on with the day with the family. If you leave it till 9 or 10 am the roads of full of slug drivers. I will start a thread.
Something really needs to be organised on this forum like these drives and yearly meets i would gladly organise and help
There is nothing to look forward to anymore
Look at Europe and uk always someting going on
Nice to meet new people and talk car shite and coffee etc

Totally agree, we need to breath a bit of life into the place.

If people participate it will succeed. I for one am always going on about it but doing nothing, so this time I will get involved and organise. If you like a later meet...organise one, dyno day....organise it, Ferry to the evo triangle....organise it. Detailing day....organise it. There will always be a stalwart of regulars, but these things need new blood. Porsche club are great for runs and meets. Now a lot of their members are retired so have a lot of time, but even the younger guys get out. I went to one meet with them in IKEA car park...look at cars and then go have meatballs....quick and simple.
Totally agree, the vag guys are also very good, we should have an annual run with everyone, plan a 200km trip, you might get 10 cars but it would be good craic.
Myself and Foxhole Norman have been chatting about planning a trip to Germany. I'm not sure I'd like to drive my own car on the ring but I'd be up for Spa, or a trip to a few factories.
The lads did it a few years ago and had a great time.

Hopefully the link works! As you can see theirs a secondary road back to Ashbourne so you can do a nice loop, plenty of other really nice roads up around there as well for an early morning weekend blast I just remember that one in particular standing out from doing it in the girlfriends hyundai coupe of all things instead of the Silvia I had at the time!
I'm up this this too :) Sounds like a good idea, its been a couple of years since I've gone on a fun drive with folks off forums :)
Would be interested myself but in the Midlands. Used to go to many events back when bmw car club was operating. Moved away from bmw back in 2010 for a sensible Toyota Avensis. Have a '15 F10 520d msport so back in game some what. Would like to get involved again.

I think we had some sponsorship from BMW Ireland for events like track days at Mondello, economy runs, show n shine etc. We also organised a trip to Silverstone for an e46 m3 csl event. Ring mistress sabine schmitz took us around for a blast in e60 m5. Also some race prepped e30 m3's. Good times.

Hi guys, if you are interested in being part of Cork group for runs just let me know.

Here is the thread on meets and events.
I'd be up for a few spins in the Cork and South too. Dawn raids from years back were great fun :)
Was thinking myself in the summer, a run once a month or so and then finish up at the cars and coffee meets would be cool.
Went to the Nurburgring with mine last year. Hopefully going again this July or August.
Julianstown to Lismullen is a nice drive, about 25km of fast sweepers with excellent sightlines and a lovely surface.
It's the best driving road I've found in the North Dublin(ish) area in the years I've been spending around Balbriggan.

It never seems to get much love, but I'm a big fan of the R116 starting at Taylor's lane and ending at Glencullen, before taking the Ballyedmonduff Road to Step village.

Contributing with your first post, excellent :)
Thanks Kedaha and welcome along!
Any more suggestions? Maybe somewhere outside of Dublin that’s not a million miles from Dublin? :)
