Anyone using Apple's Carplay ?

I'm very interesting in putting in a double DIN HU into my E46 which would have Apple's Carplay integrated into it.

I'm just asking does anyone already use it ? I've heard it can be a bit buggy.

The main things I have heard:

1. the spotify app (which i use A LOT) takes a long time to load and can crash and / or play random songs you didn't ask for.

2. there is no volume knob ? (!) I have no steering wheel controls on my car, does this mean I will have to use the phone to control the volume?

3. The screen brightness, I have mixed things, some people say it's permanently too bright with no way of dimming it others say its fine.
