Removing scratches from rubber trim.

I have some pieces of rubber body moulding trim with light scratching. Is it possible to lightly sand the rubber to remove the scratches?

While the sanding will likely remove the harsh look of the scratches, you are likely to be left with a dulled surface where you sanded. A trim restoration product may bring that up, and blend reasonable well when the whole trim is treated, but as the product wears, Im guessing it will be an area that will draw your eye quite quickly, as it probably will never be quite right.

Have you a picture of the trim in question?

I think Ken has had great results spraying them with black satin paint

After inspecting the trim pieces again, I have decided that they will either be going back to the vendor or going in the bin. They are too badly scratched up.

They will not be going near a car of mine!!!

If they are new I'd just return them. There's nothing like brand new unmarked trim

They are far too bad unfortunately to go near a car of the calibre they were intended for. They were used and described inaccurately.
