Need some help..NCT issue

Hi guys been a long time since iv posted here.
I am currently away living in Canada and my parents BMW failed the NCT in Ireland a fortnight ago due to the reverse lights not coming on due to a faulty switch.
The car in question is a 2005 BMW 3 Series 320 (E46) D SE 150BHP.
The dealership are looking for 750 euro to fix this and I was wondering is there somewhere they could get this issue fixed cheaper. The dealer say its a switch that engages when putting the car in reverse and it needs to be programmed. It passed last year with the same issue but wasnt so lucky this year.
Any suggestions of where to take it or get the part cheap would be much appreciated.I dont know the part number just yet. Located in Sligo. Thanks Myles.
