Random auto mirror

On my E39, the passenger mirror dips down when you engage reverse, so as not to hit the kerb presumably. When I come out of reverse, it should go back to where it was, but often winds it's way fully up. Small bit of a nuisance.

Is there a solution?

Workaround, rather than solution here, but slip the mirror button to adjust the passenger side mirror and it won't drop when you engage reverse.......

Ah I know, but I'd sooner have it right, you know?
