Thank god no more of those blue badly adjusted hid's blinding you on the road.
Will hopefully get rid of alot of the blue light brigade, though the smart ones amongst them
(not many then) will just swap out the bulbs for regular ones the NCT surely.
It's a positive step in the right direction but I think it needs to be policed too. Gardai should be pulling people with blinding HIDs in reflectors.
thank god...Sick of been blinded by stupid 12k in reflector lenses :@
Funny thing is, they could have headlight washer and there could be dirt on the lense but doesn't mean the driver will wash them or know they are dirty :D
It's sad that all of us who have retrofitted Hid's (including myself) will suffer if it's policed. I've had my 8k Hid's fitted to depo healdights which I disassembled and added my own cuttoffs to. These headlights have passed 7 NCT's and have been on two of my cars. It annoys the life out of me when I see Hid's in reflectors. I absolutely hate it. It is selfish knacker mod of the century and this law is a good one. We'll see how it goes if the Garda will acyually police it or if it's a swap out for the NCT. I strongly believe 2 points should be given for HID's in reflectors/fogs. Even in E36's with no shrouds they look gawk. HID's are the new sunstrip time for them to go. The specifics are a bit anal though beam pattern/scatter and wattage should be the requirements. Hopefully this may stop the 12K 50W in Reflector Headlights and Fogs driving around.

They should have washers - although there are some japanese cars apparently where xenons were fitted without them. Think the rule is there a good while - just being enforced by certain testers now. Last handbook is dated 2012.
!!!
I read this date and thought it was in since 2012!!
So if I fit factory xenons headlights but don't have the headlight washers I'll fail the nct ?
like on the e39, when I replaced the bumper I replaced it with a non washers as it was cleaner looking. So this will fail ?
Yep. It will fail.Quote:

Both my cars (e63 & e39) have factory Xenons, both also have headlight washers. I think it was one of the conditions placed on manufacturers in order to be allowed to include them on the car, that & auto level adjusting. So if manufacturers have to do it so should everybody else I suppose.Quote:
