I assume the preference would be that the chain was replaced as preventative maintenance, rather than after failing? And am I simply looking to see that the chain has been replaced, or is there any other work that you'd expect to have been done at the same time to prevent future failures that I should also be looking for?

Thanks!
I wouldn’t get too hung up on the chain to be honest. If the car is in good condition overall and is quiet on start up etc though the chain hadn’t been done I’d go for it. It’s doesn’t cost the earth to get the chain down now.
