E90 Headlight Upgrade

I'm going through this same issue on the e92. I've bought a new set of bulbs and a headlight restoration kit to polish out any chips etc. I'm hoping this will do it, I don't remember the light output being so poor on my previous 335d, I might as well be driving by candle light.

New bulbs will help if they're replacing very old ones but if the light is really bad they may not be the only culprit.

Regarding the headlight covers, polishing shouldn't increase light output really unless they are going a bit opaque. Clearer covers would reduce light scattering though and might sharpen up the beam profile.

Are these new bulbs you put in or are have they been there for years? Xenon bulbs do lose some brightness over time but should still be at least as good as halogens.

Fitted them when I bought the car in November 2019, don’t recall the lights ever being good.
