12V Power Supply

Hi folks,

Does anyone have a 12v power supply that will supply operating voltage and current up to 80A? I want to apply a map to the DME in the coming weeks and want to reduce any risks associated it. The recommendation from BMW for the E9x is a power supply that can deliver operating voltage and current up to 80A. I don't really want to go buy one just for a single use so if anyone had one they could loan to me I'd happily sort them out for it.

That's a high enough current , I doubt you'll find something on a 13a plug that will do that. I've a programmable DC supply but it only goes up to 4 amp , the alternative might be a NoCO booster or a smart charger maybe ? I've all but based in Galway , I think you're in the East ?

Yeah its crazy enough, the idea is to keep the voltage perfectly stable when coding, There are ones like this:

Its 1360W at 13.6v so a 13a fuse should handle it, but the more I look into most people just use a 25A supply without issue.

Thanks for the offer I have a CTEK battery tender that has a supply mode at 13.6v but its only at 10a, I might look at making a supply to do this.

If you are careful, you don’t need anywhere near that power. Make sure everything is off and don’t move electric seats etc.

When I was getting coding done on my f36, the power supply was showing 25-35 amp draw with everything switched off but ignition on.

A 25 amp power supply would be a little skimpy but you might get away with it. Use it to make sure the battery is fully charged before you start.

Gys flash power supplies are used by a lot of dealers and professional coders. Something like this 50 amp would do the job nicely:
