    Anyone vrt'd an M240i?

    Hi All,

I have been looking at importing an M140i from NI but I came across an M240I and really like the look of it. The car is an original NI car. The price seems good too. I checked on the VRT calculator which is coming in at just over 8000 euro. The emissions on the VRT calculator match the car advertised and there is only one model of M240I on the vrt calculator. I am a little cautious that the quote seems quite low, they have an OMSP of 23,000 euro. I am afraid to buy it and be hit with a vrt bill that I can't really afford to clear.

Am I ok since this is on the calculator? Or has anyone recently vrt'd one to know if it is accurate.

    Thanks,
    Gary

I have very little experience in importing, but the last time I did it the car matched the model on the calculator and that's exactly what I ended up paying. AFAIK, as long as the car is over four years you wont be hit with any additional VRT for options etc.

By contrast the last time I imported a car the VRT quote on the calculator was €4000 lower than the eventual figure I had to pay. Be VERY careful, it took months and months to get some of the money back.

Be interested to hear the story behind that. Unless there's any deviation from the model listed, the VRT folk go with the calculator cost.
The only deviation from this that I know people getting stung for have been additional options, but that was only in cars that were less than about 5 years old.
