    Question Classic Car Insurance

Folks - there's a few older classic car insurance threads floating about but acceptance criteria seems to change regularly so said I'd start a new one.

As my E39 hits 20yo next year, I'll start to look at adding it to a classic policy. The question is exactly when does it hit the 20 yo mark though that satisfies insurance companies ie. Jan 1st of the 20th year, the date of manufacture or the date of first reg in the UK (where it originally came from) ?

Like to be armed with that info before I ring around in the new year.....

Generally goes off the registration year from my experience, have never once been asked for a manufacture date.

As Ken days probably goes by the reg year. But you’d really need to confirm that with whoever ends up insuring you

I use First Ireland for insuring my vintage SL. Have to say they are not bad to deal with and the policy seems a fair price.

I jus got a policy on the 740i with first Ireland. 4,000mile limitation but nothing else. Fully comp for me and my partner, €310. They do want me to prove I’m in a car club though… Anyone know of a free one I can join?

Got cover for the M3 today for €285 for the year, 4000 mile limit. Not bad.
