If you were in the market for a used M car

(or any interesting BMW that isn't your bog standard diesel or hybrid), where would you look to buy it from? I know the Irish domestic market has never been great to begin with, but the selection of cars on the likes of DoneDeal and Carzone seems to have reached an all time low over the last 12 months or so, there really is f all out there. Is there some other place (online or in real life) that I am not thinking to look? Or is importing from the UK really the only option now, despite the extra taxes post-Brexit?

I would advise asking some of the well known garages to see if they have any incoming stock…or Andy, he knows all

Out of interest what well known garages are you referring to - main dealers, or the likes of Deanes, Beshoffs, etc.?

I’ve never heard of any issues with cars that Beshoffs are supplying - they generally seem to have something M powered in stock. Personally, I think I’d be speaking to them - or sourcing from someone reputable in the UK. Not sure I’d trust some of the other dealers / specialists having see some of the stuff being sold of late.

Definitely modern, really what I'm interested in is an F80 M3 or perhaps some variety of M5.

Good to know that. I know Jeremy well so might give him a shout. Based on their website they seem to only have an M4 in stock right now, albeit a nice looking one (although very similar to the one I sold earlier this year and I'm ideally looking for something with more doors!)

That's interesting, I had never considered looking for RHD stock on the continent. Is there a particular website(s) you use for that or is it through dealers, etc.?

These are the ones I use the most, just put Rechtslenker or RHD into the keyword when searching.

Auction sites like collectingcars.com have the odd RHD for sale on the continent too.

The market seems very bad at the moment for desirable stuff, especially the last couple of months. I think people are just holding onto what they've got and these are probably the same people who would have gone to the UK when upgrading to something newer. I generally don't look at UK stuff anymore unless it's up North. Japan is an option, but there's always the fear of the unknown. I'm constantly looking at RHD stuff on the continent and I recently picked up something myself from Luxembourg. This is relevant to my interests There's a severe lack of F80's unfortunately. VRT is about 20k now for a 2016 :O

Mad isn't it. Bizarrely VRT seems to be even higher on F10 M5s, which makes no sense to me.
