Ive no experience with them but id say the top in my books would be the S54 & S85.
Big shout out for my M43TU though, in 6 years it has never missed a beat nor has it ever burnt any oil it just keeps on trucking!
M52 gets my vote, so good BMW de-tuned them so plenty of untapped power can be released relatively cheap!!
Isn't the F1 engine two S52b32s joined together?
Haven't driven enough or know enough about many of them but do like the S54
M57 or M43, both great engines. If you looked after them, they'll look after you!

The m43 is a solid engine agreed. I ran mine for months years ago overheating and all. Still running fine, 20 years old engine now.M57 or M43, both great engines. If you looked after them, they'll look after you!
