Xenon Ballast issue

Hi all,

need a bit of help/ advise...

Ok one of my xenon bulbs wont start all the time (bulbs replaced recently) now i reckon its the ballast. now my question is do i need to replace it with a bmw part or can i get a HID ballast to replace it?

Usually the ballasts are similar for many cars, they're typically a bosch as far as I'm aware in the E39, I would suggest ebay.de, search under "Xenon Steuergerät"

Swap the ballasts over first to make sure it is actually the ballasts ;-)
