    1980's BMW car search

As a youngster growing up in Dublin, a wealthy neighbour and his wife always had very nice cars. His BMW cars were my first proper introduction to BMW, as I used to wash the cars for him and move them in and out of his driveway. I partly credit his cars with my fascination with BMW today. They would have been bought brand new by this gentleman in the eighties.

Three cars in particular stand out. I was wondering if these cars were still alive today or if anyone knows where they are. Cartell says that they still exist but I know that isn't an accurate indication.

I distinctly remember the reg plates of each car

    Car 1. SI 3773 Red BMW E30 316

    Car 2. 87 D 14160 Blue E28 520i

    Car3. 88 WD 64 Gold/Silver E28 528i (probably one of the last E28's built)

    Has anyone come across them??

I am curious to know what state they are in today if they haven't been scrapped.

Hardly any pics do you? We are nearly 40yrs as a BMW specialist garage and I'm sure nearly one of those has graced the garage at some stage. If you do ill run it by the lads to see if any of them remember or ill even chance searching the regs on our computer but I'd doubt they will show up on it!

No pics of the cars I'm afraid, I haven't seen the cars in over 20 years.

It would be interesting to see if you have worked on them over the years. The E28 528i was a particularly rare and expensive car in Ireland in the depressed 1980's.

From memory all three cars had bottle top alloys.

Pm me on the family name as that's usually the easiest way the lads remember

The family name was Fox. The family usually never kept their cars more than about 3 years and they were always serviced within the BMW dealer network, you may have seen the cars later in life but unlikely with the original owners.

    1980's BMW car search

See there is always someone more sad than me when it comes to BMWs haha.

I think that 3 series used to come into a petrol station I worked in during the 90's with some lady driver.

    Regards,

    Andy
